Fender Rumble Club

I don't know either, just posing a possibility.
Thanks, you’re quite right of course. A distinct possibility. I’ve heard it said that these ivory-coloured knobs on some of the early-manufactured Rumbles, like mine, were prone to yellowing and becoming sticky over time. What’s interesting is that the three tone push buttons (bright, contour and vintage) and the overdrive engage push button on my amp have not deteriorated in the same way as the rotary pot knobs have and still look pristine. I’m wondering if Fender maybe changed the knob material at some stage, realising the problem, to eradicate it.

just ask Fender for a new set of knobs.

I think Ampeg was the iconic bass amp back in the day and was top shelf. Today, I think Ampeg’s products are nothing near what they were. Reliability issues and so-so customer service. No thanks. If you’re going solid state, you just can’t beat Rumbles for reliability, tone and value.

Some people complain that the Rumbles can’t nail that “modern” tone. Okay, I get it. I think anyone can get some type of “modern” tone by EQuing the amp and/or bass controls. Strings, pups, etc. can help you achieve that also. However, it doesn’t matter that much to me because I’m an old fart, classic rock fan, and I’m in love with my Rumble 500 head and 115 and 410 cabs.
Rumble on!!!

This is what I have trouble understanding. I'm not wild about the "modern" tone myself, but if I did want one, my Rumbles can provide a tone so trebly and "modern" it would set my teeth on edge. It's a simple matter of EQ.

No. And when they get sticky are a PITA to get off.
Use one of these.

Cool! Available at Walmart?:smug:
As I’m not familiar with the selection available at Wal-Mart, it’s kind of hard to say, but at a guess I shouldn’t think so. :D

Another solution would be something homemade. I should think a workable solution could be made from an old plastic card. Something like a two-pronged fork with a groove in the middle wide enough for the pot shaft and thin enough to slide underneath the knob.
