Fender Rumble Club

Ok, so I just got my 200 combo, and took it home to my play with. I have it at a pretty low volume and am getting a buzzy distortion behind the note. The overdrive is off, the vintage and bright are off, the gain is all the way down. I tried it with three basses, all of had the same annoying distortion. The speaker is tight, and the horn was off. If I touch the speaker while playing a note you cannot hear the distortion, but I can feel it.

I am going to contact the seller and see what they say. Anybody else have this problem? I'm going to try and attach a picture of the controls.

Jake, pull off the grill, and with your fingertips forming a circle around the dustcap cap push straight in. If you hear or feel and scraping, then the woofer is bad. It is very easy for drivers to be damaged in shipping. Get an RA from your e-tailer and exchange for another new Rumble 200 combo.

Oh, wow. Ok. But, you do realize there is such thing as a Fender Squier bass.
Not any more. Squier is now it's own brand and wholly owned subsidiary just as much as Gretsch is.
The very first Squiers were made in Mexico and said Fender Squier. All others were "Squier by Fender" and I've seen some that said "Squier for Fender". Now it's just a large Squier with a small Fender underneath. Squiers are no longer shown on Fender.com and have their own website.

Ah, interesting. Yeah, I knew Fender was definitely still listed on the Squier basses, but not as large as I thought.

On my 500 i had to tighten all the screws and nuts on all the jacks did the trick for me.

Just use a screwdriver and tighten all loose screws on the outside of the amp they are typically a little loose so that the temperature changes in shipping won't damage anything then take a socket and tighten up all the nuts around the imput, speaker out, line out, foot switch, and any other jacks there might be. I do that with every new bass, amp, or cab I get. Dont torque it down or use a screw gun just tighten by hand until its solid.

Been a few weeks. Still love the Rumble 500 combo. I'm so glad that I returned the 200 to get the 500. To me, the 2x10" has the sound I'm looking for and the 500 watts gives the volume. I still miss my Ampeg tone from time to time, but I'm learning to embrace the Fender tone. I've got some amp covers for the amps so they don't scratch while loading.

I've actually barely used the 1x15 cab at all. It works great as an amp stand, though, and it only cost me like $269, so it isn't exactly burning a hole in my pocket.

Reaching way back! So you had the Micro VR and ended up with the Rumble 500... I'd love to hear more about your experience in choosing it. Does it come the closest to that Ampeg because of the 2x10 config? The Rumbles are priced so well, and are so light, and have such good warranties and history, so I'm leaning towards them. But I really would love to hear from former or current Ampeg owners about whether the Rumble V3 amps can approach that sort of thing. Of course, with money saved, there's always the VT or SFT pedals, too :)
