Very rare here to have provided PA. We Sherpa all our FOH and lights. That would be pretty sweet though.

If you do measure it, I would be very interest to know what you found. All I know is that whatever their setting is, it is not enough to compensate for floor/room conditions. A variable, in my case, a Broughton Always On, does the trick. I am not knocking Fender for putting a fixed in. Many other manufactures do the same to protect the speakers from what a Class D amp can do. But, speaker protection and compensating for floor/room conditions are entirely different IMO.
That's beautiful, plav! Please give us the details of this setup. For those of us unfamiliar with the Ric-o-Sound feature(s), is it 2 outputs? If so, is it an output for each pickup, or what? Also, which goes to the 40 and which to the Studio, and why? And what's the box between the amps, and why? Enquiring minds wanna know!

Thanks! There are two separate output jacks on the guitar. One is a regular TR jack that behaves like a regular bass in that the signal is the sum of both pickups. The second is a TRS jack that splits the output of the two pickups. There’s a small splitter I built that has one TRS input split into two TR outputs. The neck pickup is fed to the Rumble and the bridge pickup is fed into the studio with a little dirt applied. Chasing Chris Squire’s sound to play along with Yes. The box between them is a Focusrite USB interface that accepts the line outs from the combos with a USB out for recording.

Speaking of Chris Squire tones, what do you think of preset #58 "Roundabout" on the Studio? I've tried it a few times and like it quite a bit.

Rumble Stage 800 update.
I bought this amp early on in Sept. last year since it had many of the features I was looking for in a combo. I did the recommended firmware update right out of the box and started jamming on it and having a blast with all the presets. I love the tones & sounds this amp can make.
One day, early on, I was playing through it and the sound just went away for several seconds. Silence. I thought hmmm, that’s odd. I checked the cord & everything was good. I just made a mental note & moved on. The amp worked great for months with just light use.
About a month ago it did it again. Just went silent for several seconds while playing through it. I thought ok, not good.
I just play through it occasionally and it has been fine since that last incident until the other day. After about 30 minutes of playing the screen went black. Sound was still coming out of the speakers, but couldn’t see anything on the screen.
I turned amp off and waited a minute and tried again. It came back on, but I could see the edges of the screen were really dark. It wasn’t long before the screen was black again.
So I contacted Fender and they indicated they were aware of some issues with these amps like those I was having. I was told I would have to take it to a Fender authorized repair center for them to destroy and a new amp will be issued.
I was hoping, since this may be a known issue under warranty, that they would issue me a shipping label to send it in. No such luck. I have to take it to the repair center that turns out to be 60 miles away. Oh well. Hopefully they’ll drop ship the new one to me so I won’t have to drive back over to pick it up.
Anyway, I really like this great sounding & powerful amp and I’m sure Fender will stand behind their product. I just wanted to put this out there since I haven’t read anything on here about it and in case any other Stage 800 owners run into a similar issue.
I’ll report back when I know more. Rock on.

Really? That seems pretty extreme...it would still make a fine cab.
Crap. My Stage 800 has done the "no sound" thing a couple of times but it's been while I was playing along with music I was playing via bluetooth from my phone.
No problems with my Stage 800 yet, bought mine last December. Any other Stage 800 users experiencing this issue?
I just got mine on Monday and have noticed this. Same situation as Cardsfan. I was playing along with music from a bluetooth connected device. Only thing that fixed it was power off/on. I was able to play with no ssues without the bluetooth connection.
Completley rumble unrelated, but just thought id ask cos... why not?
(Well i figured bassists with good tastes in amps woukd probably have good taste in strings, and would know a bit more about these particular strings than me)
Anyone have any experience with Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt Flatwounds, or Daddario Chromes, or both? Preferences? Which lasted longer. What are the tonal variations, or how do they differ in feel?

This has happened with my Rumble 500 combo. It has only happened a few times and about all I can trace it back to is the tweeter - if I leave that off (which I usually do) that seems to be the fix. Much more testing needed though, it takes a while of continuous playing before it happens. Anyone else? For the record: no other external inputs apart from my bass.
Both. The EB Cobalt flats have more 'punch' and mids than the Chromes( I don't like the feel of rounds). All 5 of my basses have flats.2 TBirds have EB Cobalt Flats, Squire VM Jag has Chromes, Les Paul 5er has 1/2 rounds, Ibanez semi-hollow has D'A. Tapes. EB's have plenty of bottom with all the mids and highs you wanna EQ in, Chromes are mellower, 1/2 rounds are sorta in between, tapes are very mellow-give me an upright bass sound outta the Ibby.(different strings on both 'Birds at time of pic)
Both 'Birds with EB Cobalt flats. Yes, that's a custom PG on the 4 string.

Although I've had more issues with BT connections than just the sound blackout, I've had a couple of similar occasions with my Studio 40. I figured it was probably a software bug that would eventually get a firmware fix, but no recent updates is making that seem less likely.
I have a Studio 40 also and haven't experienced the problem there. But now that I think of it I don't know if I connect the bluetooth on that. I may just play the music on the desktop.
Another fan of the EB Slinky Cobalt Flats. All of my basses now sports cobalts.
