Fender Rumble Club

My problem is, how many watts is the original speaker? I have pulled it out and it does not say, I only know that it is 16 ohms with 4 Connectors for the wiring, I am trying to match as best I can to not mess with the Way the unit is built for sound..

I would suggest calling Celestion and/or Eminence® and ask for their help. Eminence® made the speaker in question for Fender but apparently Fender wants their "custom designed speaker" to be a secret! So, that would be my recommendation until someone with experience (@G-Dog ?) responds.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, SoulMan. But, fortunately for me, I don't actually have any real world experience replacing Rumble speakers! My nearly 5-year-old Rumble 500 original speakers are still in perfect shape. I've only read a lot about it here on TB and resolved that I would trust only an Authorized Fender Repair Center to do the replacement, even at a premium cost. Anything else, without doing the math considering all the technical parameter and retuning the ports, etc., risks putting inappropriate speakers into the cab that may not sound so good.

Surely, Jenny, you saw in the replies to the Replacing Fender Rumble 500 speaker thread AstroSonic's advice to go with the stock driver. And he has actually done a lot of replacements with calculations, modeling and retuning!

That being said, the Rumble 500 combo amp is rated 350 watts continuous, 700 watts program. That's the same speakers in the Rumble 210 cab with the same ratings. But, it's also the exact same speakers as in the Rumble Stage 800 combo amp rated at 400 watts continuous! So, any individual replacement speaker needs to actually be rated for, at least 200 watts continuous.

Good luck, @Jen760! Please let us know how it goes. BTW, if you post a photo of your Rumble here I'll issue your very own Rumble Club membership number!

I did read through that thread By the way, I just didn’t find exactly what I was looking for.. ok one more question then.. if I put a 350w 16 ohm speaker in there will it mess things up? My thought is that I do not want this to happen again, and I realize adding a cab will help that. But for smaller gigs, I don’t want to have to lug a cab... and what actually happened is my guitar player and I switch guitars and he cranked my bass boost on my bass.. I’d like to avoid anyone being able to do that in the future. I apologize I do not know a whole heck of a lot about speakers and how the ohms and Watts work with their cabs, but I love to learn how everything works.

Oh, so it sounds like you really do want to upgrade both speakers, not just replace 1 stock speaker. Well, wattage and ohmage is just the tip of the iceberg! It's all the other parameters that really describe the technicalities of speakers and determine what ... uh, ... "cab-age" they can work with. Check out the threads linked in the Speaker Replacements section of the Rumble Club Wiki, especially AstroSonic's posts in said threads. Then, depending on your confidence in your DIY abilities and your modeling resources, you may need to find an audio cabinet specialist near you to execute your upgrade and make sure it sounds good.

Again, good luck and keep us informed. We look forward to your photo.

Going Rumble-less today for band practice. We’ve got a gig next weekend with this band, and we rehearse in the singer’s basement. Seems like a waste to drag it all down there today only to have to carry it all back up the stairs after practice.

Times like these are the only times that I wish I’d have kept the smaller amp I traded away to get my 410’s!!

Semi-outdoor gig next weekend at a local baseball stadium with my 90’s grunge band. Should be fun.

Then in two weeks, my dance band is playing at a huge club, with a national act as a special guest.

Gonna be Rumbling for both of those.

Today, it’s a little Peavey.
If I had to carry a 4x10 up and down basement stairs, I'd be a little peeved, too.

Some time back I posted this, explaining my justification for buying a Rumble.

Well, I may be joining the Rumble Club very soon!

...Next month I'm playing with the choir again, only not a normal concert. It's a Choir Festival, Thursday evening, Friday evening, and all day Saturday.

We sing Saturday morning. Each choir has a 20 minute slot. Get on stage, sing, offstage, and the next choir is waiting to go on at the moment you start to leave the stage. I'll have approximately 3.5 seconds to setup and tear down. No FOH, just whatever I bring for an amp.

Heavy ain't gonna cut it. I need to carry this onstage while we are walking on to sing, plug it in, sing, play on the last song we do, unplug, and walk off.

I'm going to try out the Rumble 200 and Rumble 500 both this weekend. The 200 will be enough for anything I've needed, but for only $100 more the 500 gives me overhead in case I need more in the future. You know, just thinking ahead :).

Expect to see an official request to join the club Saturday or Sunday.

Days later, I posted this, verifying my purchase, and joining the esteemed members of the Rumble Club (and the rest of you guys, too).

...
As promised!

I tried both the 200 and the 500. Liked them both!
The 200 would do everything I currently need for the few times a year I need an amp, but the 500 is a lot more bang for the buck.

I guess it's time to request a number!

:):bassist::hyper:

Well, the choir festival that I used for my justification was this past Saturday. I'd like to say that the Rumble 500C met or exceeded my expectations.

Alas, I cannot say that.

The song I was supposed to play on got cut from the setlist a couple of weeks ago. Didn't get to even play it.:banghead:

But the good news is, I've got a 500C for the next time I may need it, plus it works well practicing at home.

I hate when that happens. At least you're well set for the next opportunity.
