I own a fender rumble 100 v3 and love it. I’m just a bedroom bass player/noodler.
However a good friend of mine who has his own band asked me how my playing is coming along and what my rig is. He told me that I might want to consider more watts for the stage.
So since then I’ve been eyeing the fender rumble 800 combo, but even though it has a lot more power it just seems too small in size for the stage. Would it be better to get the fender rumble 800 head and then some other taller cabinets for the stage?
Take it a step at a time. Try your amp at rehearsal. For gigs it couldn't hurt to get a 500. If you still need more, add an extension cab.
500 watts is more than enough. I've used a 500 head and 210 cab without PA support in one band - for another and I add a second can. That's more than enough.
