Fender Rumble Club

Thanks!

The cabinet on the bottom is a guitar can I built last summer. It has a Eminence Legend 12”. I opened up the Rumble 15 recently, and wired the cab in series with it. For playing at home, it sounds pretty cool.

Once I get a pedal with stereo outs, I’m going to spread the amps out and run different effects to each. At some point, I’ll incorporate that old Super Reverb into the mix.

Very cool!

Traveling with the family out of town, stopped in the guitar store here. It’s a very large store with a huge inventory of new and used gear. (Possibly the biggest indie guitar store I’ve ever been to.)

Looking at bass amps, they had some vintage Fender, used Ampeg heads and cabs, and one GK half stack. But for new combo amps, all they had was an Orange crush 50- and a whole lotta Rumbles! No GK, Ampeg, Mark, Peavey... nothin’ else. I asked the guy about it; He says, “It’s just not worth stocking that other stuff. Nobody buys it, everyone just wants a Rumble.”

I guess, in this place anyway, Rumbles rule the roost!

I suspect that Rumbles are sort of reaching a critical mass. They’re already the most popular bass amps out there, so the more people see and hear it, the more they want one, and most dealers know on which side their bread is buttered. And let’s face it - what’s not to like?

For any interested parties thinking of wiring speakers and impedance values..this chart may help.
If you haven't got it in the Rumble Wiki G-Doggy feel free to use it.

It's not currently on The Rumble Club Wiki page, yet, Giffy. But, I can fix that. Probably all Fender amp manuals have a chart and some description of impedance loading, if the amp(s) can drive external cabs. Here's the one from the manual for Rumbles 40 thru 500:

And a few from some other Fender manuals:

But, I like the more extensive write-up that yours has. So, I will use that one, thankyewverrymuch! Now, . . . .

Attention: Rumble Club Wiki Edit Alert!

Thank you, @ChrisBowsman and @Giffro, for your contributions to The Rumble Club! Chris, your Rumble stack photo has been added near the bottom of the Rumble Artwork section, just above the Rumble Fantasies section on the Rumble Club Wiki page. And, Giffy, your Impedance Guidelines post has been linked in the Rumble Summary Info section of the Rumble Club Wiki page. These are the kind of interesting and informative things that make ou Club such a great place.

Chris and Giffy, please accept the thanks of a grateful Club for your submissions. And we are all now free to . . . .

Played again his morning at our band's rehearsal through the V1 Rumble 100 I picked up last month for our practice space. I have to say this amp has fantastic tone and surprising volume. I have not compared it directly with my Rumble 200, but I think it sounds every bit as good. I was always under the impression the V1 series was mediocre but clearly I was mistaken. Of the several amps I've tried in the space this is by far the best and absolutely kills the fartmaster GK MB200 that it replaced. Even my bandmates are impressed and they usually never comment on my amps.

Hey guys! I’m new to this and haven’t read all these pages yet. But I’m getting ready to buy a Fender Rumble to leave at my practice area. Other than the small price difference is there any advantage to buying a 200 combo over a 500? The weight is nearly the same.
Are there certain volumes where the 200 sounds better than the 500? I’m planning to just go with the 500 but thought I better ask.

Bear, I assume you're asking this of the Rumble 800 HD owners? I don't know any other Rumble amp that could run that 2.67 ohm load safely. Right?

Do you have this rig? Show us a pic of your Rumble and join The Club.

Congratulations, macca! A very understanding wife!

Please show us a pic of your beautiful Rumble rig and join The Club!

My understanding is the more wattage the better. I just bought a 60, but I’d have gotten a 100 or bigger if it’d been the same great price.

I found the 500 to be a little more crisp and cutting, the 200 a little more warm and round. Both sound excellent. The 500 is louder at equal settings, but the 200 is freakin’ loud in its own right.

What’s the style? Motown or blues might lean 15”, rock or heavier might lean 210”

How loud is your band? I use a 100 for rehearsal, drums and electric guitar, and it doesn’t break a sweat. I think a 200 would be plenty for rehearsal; but that depends on your rehearsal volume

Mako! Man, I apologize. I watched your "Watchtower" video and couldn't tell. Does your 100 have the interactive red light in the port? Does it work? Does it have an on/off switch? I dunno why, but I've become hypnotized by that dancing red pulse, especially since seeing one in person at a jam a couple months ago. :woot:

Hey, Yammy! Haven't read all the pages yet? Don't worry 'bout it. Take your time with that. Meanwhile, feel free to ask the burning questions you must have.

But you've managed to hit on one of the biggest controversies here in the Rumble Club. Does the 15" in the 200 combo "sound better" than the 2x10s in the 500 combo? Well, of course, "better sound" is in the ear of the beholder. Try them both at the store(s) and see what you think. That's the only opinion that should really matter to you.

Personally, I'd rather have the extra headroom, or volume when needed, of the 500 even if the 200 did sound a bit better (and I'm not saying it does). I've got a Rumble 500 combo that sounds just about as good as my Bassman Neo 115, to me. But that's just my 2 cents.

OK, show us a pic. You know, some would say, "Pics, or it didn't happen." :roflmao:

That video is from a few years ago and I've only had the Rumble 100 for about a month and a half. Same rehearsal spot but at the time we were using a Yorkville 200. My Rumble 100 does indeed have the flashing red lights in the port and they work. I believe there is a switch somewhere on the amp to turn them off but I haven't bothered looking because I really don't care LOL! Had they not been already turned on I may never have know the amp even had lights

I went with the 500. It sounds really good. I only played them for a few minutes at Guitar Center and with a very budget bass that didn’t impress. But the impatient wife was with me. I was 80% sure the 500 was what I wanted so that’s what I went with. I’m sure either would have met my needs. But as they say...too much is never enough.

OooOoo! I suppose another video, featuring the red-lit V1 Rumble 100, would be too much to ask? I would dearly love to see it, myself. And I wager that many others here would be simply in awe of it, too, but are just too shy to admit it. :woot:

Yo, la Bombo! That's fantastico! Please, please, pics, please!! And we wanna here about your first impressions playing thru your R500c. I do believe you've got the goods that can really deliver now! Tell us all about it, if you can tear yourself away from it long enough.
