Fender Rumble Club



Here's a sound test recording from my Stage 800 VIA USB and the camera app on my phone. Google Pixel 3A.

Stereo effects are apparently reduced to mono, and I've noticed distorted popping (busted speaker sounds) when using high gain during this method.

Just plugging straight in to my phone is more convenient for me than booting up the labtop. Plus I can go back and watch what I'm playing if I feel like there was some little gem in there that's deserving of being polished, rather than forgetting it forever.. especially helpful since most of my "practice" is just me noodling around for an hour.

Hope this shows y'all some quick recording options.
 
Great recommendation, GonePlaid. I just put them on my Rumble 40. Easy to install, look great. Got rid of the grimy, sticky white knobs that came with it.

I just had to change my beloved flats of two years (they were just getting broken in, too) because they picked up a rusty smell off my hands from playing after work.. it reminded me too much of running a shotblast. I couldn't take work invading my place of Zen.

You'd think, wouldn't ya? It's the weirdest thing with those knobs. I have no idea why they got so sticky. I think it must have been something about the plastic they're made from that absorbs oil from your fingers or something. But who knows. It was bizarre, and very annoying.

Honestly, I think it's atmospheric-and the type of Chinese(?) plastic. They get 'icky' even if you don't twiddle them.

Right, even without touching them. Could indeed be atmospheric. Strange....
Soft plastic getting sticky over time is usually to do with the material itself. Some plastics have sticky additives in them, so-called plasticizers, that help make the plastic soft to the touch. These can migrate so the surface, and form a sticky residue. Sometimes the polymers in plastic degrade, which can also make the plastic softer, and sometimes these two processes can occur simultaneously.

It has a switch for different impedence options. Currently i have two 8 ohm MarkBass 102 cabs. I went with two 8 ohm cabs on my last rig because this seemed to be the best bet. I've attached pic. This graph seems to indicate that if going with two cabinets that 4 ohms is the most efficient and gets the most bang for the buck. It allows the switch to be set at 2 ohm and thus get higher wattage output. Am I understanding this correctly?

Setting the amp to 2 Ohms with a 4 Ohm load will reduce output to approximately 600 Watts; 300W with an 8 Ohm load.

Turn it off whenever you change the switch or the speaker cables.

Your setting should match the load.

1 8-ohm cab = 8 ohm load (use 8/4 ohm setting)
2 8-ohm cabs = 4 ohm load (use 8/4 ohm setting)
3 8-ohm cabs = 2.67 ohm load (use 2 ohm setting)
4 8-ohm cabs = 2 ohm load (use 2 ohm setting)
Maybe I wasn't clear. The graph i posted gives clear instruction on speaker combos, so that's not my question. I guess what I'm asking is if investing in two 4 ohm cabs would be a better output than two 8 ohm cabs. I'm talking about getting the maximum performance out of the amp/cab combo.
My understanding is that with two 8ohm cabs I am getting 400 watts.

You have not understood the chart at all. The 400Watts figure is recommended per CABINET.
Your amp has the same output at 2ohms or 4ohms if you set the load switch correctly.
It's entirely up to you if you'd like to spend money replacing working cabinets just so you can flick that switch.
The only way you'll get more volume from the new cabinets is if their sensitivity rating is higher than your current cabs.

So maybe I don’t have much constructive or controversial to say about the Rumbles. But this rumble 100 has been my sole gigging amp for two years now and it’s been completely awesome. Sure there’s been a couple gigs where I wish I had a bit more volume, but for the most part I’ve been completely happy with this little amp.
A couple months ago I upgraded the speaker with an Eminence Beta 12a along with some acoustic foam and it was a great upgrade.
My wife just stitched the custom grill cloth this morning and I couldn’t be happier.

Believe it or not I just had about a hundred guitar picks go bad:rollno:

I also have about 2 years of gigs on my 100, they are incredible lil amps.

and that grill looks AWESOME! :thumbsup:

With two 8 Ohm cabs and the switch set to 4/8 Ohms, the amp sees a 4 Ohm load and provides all 800 Watts. Similarly, with two 4 Ohm cabs and switch set to 2 Ohms, the amp will also provide 800 Watts. If you wanted more volume you could use four 8 Ohm cabs, having the switch set to 2 Ohms you’d once again get 800 Watts, but this time from FOUR cabs. This would be louder. If this is the direction you want to go, you might consider getting two Rumble 4x10 cabs. I hardly think you’d need more than that for a while. Of course four of the 2x10s would be more modular or flexible, but would cost twice as much as two 4x10s.
