Fender Rumble Club

Well I took my Rumble 500 combo out to its first rehearsal/live stream this past Saturday. It was at our guitarist garage, we still had FOH support as we always do, we have a whole production crew that helped do the stream, however the first part, about 7 songs in the vocals were unheard. Then they pulled a feed off something else and we didn’t have control over the live stream mix. So that sucked.

However, the combo performed well. I was able to hear myself and I was able to dial in a good clean tone and balanced a good distortion tone for the show.

I went through FOH with my bass fly rig XLR out, at unity gain with nothing enabled. It was just my Fender P unaltered to FOH.

The perceived volume of this combo is huge. It reminds me of my old Hartke 3500 from the 90s. The E string had some major growl, the A was loud and up front, the D and G strings were clear and punchy.

The whole spectrum is tight and punchy, just the way I like it.

I had it raised up on my stand, where I always put my 210’s so I could hear myself better.

Here are a couple of pics with my settings that I used.

The garage, in set up.

Just bought a Rumble 100 V3 combo bass amp. I’d like to get an amp stand for it. Any suggestions? Thanks In advance for the help!
Depends on exactly what you wanna do. I have these for various situations.

Or This: MudStand mini(it holds my R200c, so it'll hold a 100 easily)

If it does become stripped completely, a woodworking trick is to use a small piece of wood, like a toothpick (or 2 or 3), or a matchstick, or a golf tee. Stick it into the stripped screw hole, and cut it off so it's flush with the surface. This will create a "plug" to give the screw threads something to grab onto. The new wood "plug" becomes wedged into place as you sink the screw back into place. A little wood glue, also, wouldn't hurt.

This is my standard procedure for issues like this. I used this technique to fix a strap button which was coming loose on my main bass (1993 Fender Jazz) about 1999. I have not had to think about it ever since.

I really like the onstage folding wedge. They are very affordable, fold flat for easy transport, noticeable projection and decoupling (IMO/IME) and seems quite stable:

?? When linking 2 Rumble Combos together do you think there would be an issue using a 50 foot length of cable?? It is a big stage where we try to keep volume limited but players on other side of stage need to hear me better. We have monitor mixes but they don't like the sound folded back in the floor wedge.

Thanks For your thoughts!!

I don't think there would be an issue. I've done similar with an extension cab and was no problem. I'd say give it a go!

Well guys my plans havent gone to schedule. Auditioned the rumble 200 and thought great thats it, get the money out and lets go, but.......Been doing my due diligence, oh ok, googled every amp on the market. I went back to the store and tried a Trace elliot 715. Great tone but you need a forklift to shift the bugger. Then i tried a peavy max250. So disappointed. I have also re evaluated my thinking. I too had fallen for the trap of equating great bottom end with cone size. The reality is probably that speaker design has moved a fair bit so that a 10" pumped full of watts is going to deliver. So I have moved on....... to rumble 500 and its competitors. Well really its only competitor is the blackstar u500, everything else is beyond reason money wise here. Its a tough choice.

And really 300 into 8ohms or 500w into 8ohms its not the deal breaker. The total spl and tone you get are probably more to the point. Both brands have expansion abilities abeit different philosophies. One has a power extension option, the other a passive option.

I want tone at good spl levels. How its achieved is not that important ( 10s vrs 15s). In the end it will be a leap into the deep end, same as it ever was.

And to make things worse, i have added another layer of complicated thinking. For the first time in my life i have tried the foam under the strings trick. Man, its tightened up the bottom end alright. So much so, my rumble 40 sounds way way better. I have all the controls at 12oclock and drive at 9. If i can double the spl, i will be right where i want to be. It just reinforces what i have been thinking , that 10" can cut it. Just got to find the right combination of power, number of cones and budget.

Finally found one in stock at a music store near me. Comparison to what I'm upgrading from
40?

I've got to admit those Blackstars have an outstanding feature set! How does the cabinet link work though?
Do you need to double your SPL to gig?
