Fender Rumble Club

Hi. I'm Dave and I just bought a Rumble 200 as a Christmas gift to myself. I'm looking forward to really diving in and seeing whats up settings-wise. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Davey! A very Merry Christmas to you! @Dave702, you are now member #1277 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Be sure to put that number in your TB signature! And check out the Rumble Club Wiki page for all kindsa Rumbling info, like the Club Tone Pool of settings for different tones.

Please tell us about your bass experiences in general and your Rumble journey in particular. We love to hear about, and from, our members! And seeing new members' Rumble pix makes us wanna ... . . . .

Rumble On!
.

If the answer is “no room at the venue”, there are a number of DI/preamp options available, from Behringer’s BDI21 to a REDDI

EDIT: I see that this is a fly-in gig for you. A Rumble head might be your best answer to retain the Rumble sound, and it can power a backlined cab to use as your on-stage monitor.

Hi Ronzo. Yup a REDDI is what is usually there on these things. It’s ok. But having my own Di with the Fender vintage button would be the best.

If I understand correctly, the Fender 200 head is the smallest stand alone head out there, right?

Do you guys think the extra hundred is worth it for the 100 over the 40? It'll just be for home use primarily (will probably be jamming with some friends in the future), but even so, would it be recommended to grab the 100 watt?
In my opinion, no. I could have bought either one, but I preferred the 40’s tone by far over the 100. I felt the 100 was muddy sounding, no matter how I EQ’d it.

That’s my understanding. But even the 800 head is relatively small.

Yes! That’s what I did :) And later I picked up a second R100c to chain with the first, when needed. That gives me a 200w ministack, enough for most of the venues where we play (ed, - not so much gigging lately... ). I also have my R200c and a small R15, that I bought for 45 eur a week ago, for home practice.

An unusual task for my Rumble today. We listened to a baroque concert that was live streamed via YouTube. I ran it on my tablet, from there I went directly into my Rumble 15. On the Rumble I chose the bass input over the aux input, because the volume and EQ knobs only control the bass input.

Settings: on the tablet I set the volume on full, since I know from experience this gives the best, fullest sound. On the Rumble the volume was only at 8:00, which was enough for our 13'x24' living room.
EQ: low at 1:30, mid at noon, high at 10:00. This was because the overall sound was rather top heavy, as all five singers were female.

They played and sang beautifully! Evening well spent.

My R100 isn't muddy but it lacks something. Maybe a little gruff, strained at volume, too edgy. The R40 was sweeter sounding especially after replacing the 10" driver with a Celestrion. Was significantly fuller with the upgrade..
However, the weight to watt ratio of the 100 is awesome. So easy to move around for the volume you get.
