Fender Rumble Club

Am I in the right place?

I wanted to show off my new combo rig. It arrived yesterday from Sweetwater.

That's the Stage 800 on top of the 2x10 extension. I love my old rig but with the Ampeg cab weighing around 150lbs, I'm not carrying it out of the rehearsal room.

I have the studio 40 and it became my favorite amp to play on. So I upgraded to this set up. Light weight and I can assign presets to fit the covers my band plays.

I noticed the DI in the 40 sounds just like it does coming out of the speakers. This is not always the case with every amp I have played.

Life got simplified!

Hey, Joey! Uh, ... I mean, Joseph. Sorry about that. (My son, Joseph, doesn't it like it when I call him Joey, though he didn't mind for the first 19 years of his life.) I just love, love, love the look and functionality of the Stage 800 & 210 cab! @Joseph Lavallo, you are now member #1330 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TB Signature for safe keeping and checkout the Rumble Club Wiki page for all assembled Rumble wisdom and knowledge. And please discuss any Stage bass modeling topics in the Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 sub-thread, so as to give the non-modeling Rumblers in this main thread a break from the technicalities.

Tell us about your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular, Joe. We already have all kinds here, so you're sure to fit right in. And we all here love to ... ...

My little Rumble 15 at 19 pounds is enough for me now. Even if get another larger rumble I'll keep this one for lower volume playing. I look back when I had a Ampeg BT 15D anmd honestly for many appl.ications the little Rumble would have been a better a better fit. I wish Fender had had a common line of small bassw amps all the way up to gymnasium and beyond sized amps back in the late 60's when I got the Ampeg. I was the owner of a factory new Bassman in 1968 that wouldn't fit in family vehicles and had to return it. Today's Rumble line would have allowed me to have purchased a right size of Fender amp back then

I have been playing bass for over 30 years. My first bass was a p bass from Sears with a small practice amp. I later upgraded to an ibenez sr800 and a peavey 118 combo with a Black Widow. I then upgraded to 2 svt cabinets (8x10, and 4x10x15xhorn) powered by a 700 watt audiocentron through an ART SGX night bass. Several basses later I decided to down grade the svt's for an Ampeg Isovent in the mid 90's. After the night bass crapped out I picked up a Bugera Nuke. Sounds great. I got the rumble because the advances in technology blow the old stuff away in terms of portability and sound quality.

... ... and my “Fenderish” Jazz V. (Originally a fender jazz v but a lot of it, including the neck, has been replaced, like a Bass of Theseus)

... ... And I daresay your "Bass of Theseus" has had some upgrades since the original, shown here. So, therefore, is it really the original anymore? And, since our bodies replace all our cells every 7 years, we are literally not the people we used to be!

What are the pros and cons of leaving the feet on your Rumble combo when stacking it on the matching extension cab? I've asked a similar question before here, so please forgive me but I'm still confused. I took the feet off my combo to set it on the cab, but I see other people's setup where the feet are still on. Is there a right or wrong way? Will the two cabs successfully couple regardless of whether the feet are on or off on the combo? I like the idea of the combo and cab making contact with each other with no space..
Keep the feet on. The holes for the screws align with the screw heads on the metal corners on the cab, keeping everything steady.

So I've been postning online, looking for people to play with... I didn't realize that finding musicians to play with is so hard. One posting got a buncha views but no one replied, another got one response, third one nothing...

I even made a Facebook account and joined a bunch of local groups.

If this gets me nowhere last thing I'm going to try it to go to local music stores and ask if I can print some ads to put on a wall.

The whole thing kinda bums me out because maybe I'm not good enough to play with others? Or there is some other issue?

I know this isn't very rumble-y but I like sharing with you guys, so... Yep.

Thanks

Don’t let it get you down! The pandemic has canceled a lot. Keep looking or better yet start your own!

I don't know how things are in Sweden but, I can assume COVID has created a huge hole in musicians playing together, worldwide.

Give it some time for vaccines and (at least here in the US) for masks to to be widely adopted.

It's only then that venues can open and musicians can come back. I am much older than you but I have hope and hope you have the patience to wait it out.

Kat, that is very Rumbly! You're not really alone. We're all *virtually* in this together. Thanks for sharing.

This month is the 1-year anniversary of the last time I played with my church band or my Bluegrass Jam group, not to mention numerous pick-ups & other jams I was used to. Some of them have gotten together, and invited me, but I decided my, and my wife's, age and chronic health conditions didn't make that a good idea. My practices are now non-existent. Even some new gear hasn't inspired me as I'd hoped.

But, now that Mrs. Dog and I have had our shots, we're feeling a bit more optimistic. For our first big social outing (experiment) we're gonna drive a few hours to a grandson's 2nd birthday party that will also be attended by our 9-month-old great-granddaughter that we've never seen in person (shame on The 'Rona!)!! Reported numbers in our area are down, so far, and slowly but steadily declining, which is contributing to our optimism. If it continues, I may even start playing out again in the not-too-distant future. We'll see.

Ya know, Rumbles are meant to roar! And so, as musicians, are we! But, there is a time and a place for all things. Unfortunately, we must each make our own decisions on those. Hang in there, Rumblers! Oooh, yeah, things are gonna get better. Oooo, yeah, things'll get brighter. 'Til the time when we can all ... ...

my half price "scratch and dent" 500 combo arrived today! i'll have to wait until tomorrow to really play around with it but it definitely works and sounds pretty good already with minimal fiddling around with knobs and buttons.

there is a not incredibly noticeable ding/dent in the wood where the tolex is also just barely split. and the power indicator light has fallen into the chassis... i opened it up and it seems i will need a replacement plastic light cover or something to hold it back in place (anyone know where to get one?)... other than that she looks brand spankin' new!

so what's my #? :bassist::hyper:

For the price, good for you. Should be an easy, inexpensive fix :thumbsup:.

A Sharpie will cover the rip(suggest you use black-or a band-aidtm). As long as it makes noise you'll know the power's on. Forget the light. Good find!

Nice deal! You can probably just tape or glue that light back in place, unless it's a bare LED now and you're also needing a cover for it. I'm not sure if anywhere stocks them but emailing Fender might work.

Knowing me I'd say I was going to fix it, maybe look for the part, realize it's too expensive and time consuming for what it is, and then a couple years down the road I'd just tape it in place. But if I could solder worth a damn I'd probably consider swapping the red LEDs for white or purple. I'd just match the specs to the ones Fender used and make sure they'd fit through the holes.

Heck, who cares about the light? Just pluck a string and you will know if its on or off...
