Fender Rumble Club

I had to strap my Univox equivalent of a Fender Twin Reverb on the rack&sissy bar of my Yamaha XS650E a couple of times (guitar to front of sissy bar). It worked, but the bike handled like a drunken pig loaded that way. Wheelied too easily as well. A Rumble would have been wonderful, but I hadn’t switched to bass, and this was 1978-1979.
Yeah that does not sound like a fun way to transport your rig! Especially considering how heavy all that woulda been. Back in high school I used to get my groceries home on a bicycle(while often carrying a guitar or bass on my back) and that was an absolute :poop: show. So I can only imagine adding more weight and like 1000x the power.

Okay, I have tried using the search function in the Rumble thread and can not find the answer to my question. Sooooo, what extension cab are you running with your 500c? 1x15, 2x10, 4x10? My heart tells me I want a 1x15 but based I what I have read in other threads on TB, I dont want to mix speaker sizes due to a bunch of scientific stuff that I dont understand. Somebody give me the simplified version of choosing extension cabs.

The general consensus is Rumble amps and cabs work well together...different manufacturers, maybe not so much. If I had a 500, I wouldn't hesitate to at a 15, but I am partial to 15's.

Ok, first let me qualify this with: 1. I'm a relative Noob; 2. Don't know electronics theory from bread baking; And C. I don't have an R500c but a R200c. With that in mind, my 200c has a resident 1x15 and I have added a 2x10 cab. I think it sounds incredible. FWIW...

Tim

HOWEVER. IF I had a R500, I think I'd give SERIOUS tho't to adding that 410. The articulation with those 10's is KILLER!

I spent hours on this, sifting through numerous threads, demos and general blurb, trying to gain wisdom and find 'the answer'....... And.... There's isn't one.

Everyone has their tale to tell and associated reasons. There's good info via the rumble club wiki page, to help understand.

My 'answer' was the best deal I came across on ebay. I've had a Rumble 500 combo for a few years. Recently bought a matching 210. Sounds great. But when I turn it up at home, the cat doubles in size, the wife is mouthing something at me and the kids start crying. I've not yet tried it on stage or in band rehearsals....

I try to understand electronics, think I've grasped something and next day it's gone.

One thing that influenced my thinking is bass player saying 15inch speakers can be a bit 'slow'. Plus I also didn't want to increase low end too much but be able to cut through mix with mids

Forget the scientific crap. There are those among us running a 1x15 with the 500c.
Any of those combinations will do.

I had one of the R112 cabs. With my 200c the sound was perfect. Problem? No place that we play(ed) warranted that much 'oomph'-or had space. I often can use my R100 or even my R40. There were ppl looking for R112s so I sold it at a slight profit. Sure did sound good, though.

Pray tell what did you search for, my FFF*?

... ... Sooooo, what extension cab are you running with your 500c? 1x15, 2x10, 4x10? ... ...

In 7 years I've run my Bassman 115 neo with my R500c a few times. Others here have run Rumble 112, 115, 210 & 410 cabs quite successfully because they are specifically designed to all work well together. Some have also run all kinds of other brands, and/or models, of similar, and/or other(!), configurations. I believe we've even seen a few 610s & 810s, though not necessarily all with the 500 combo, more likely the 500 head.

Wow! No wonder you gave up on the search function. I just searched on "500+extension" and got 1,154 hits! on this thread alone!!

Fortunately, short of trying all combinations to "scientifically" find your own opinion of "THE Best Sound", you're free to follow your heart, with the assurance that a Rumble 115 would work quite well! Lotsa 500 users here have 'em.

The only scientific mumbo-jumbo worth considering, IMHO, is the vertical array coupling effect that you get by stacking identical drivers in a line, much as the 210 cab would give you in this case. That's why the Grateful Dead stacked so many speakers onstage.

Simple answer: Get the Rumble cab your heart wants. :)

And let us know how you go, my Rumbling friend. :D

So true. Picked up a 500c off CL, and for the price was expecting it to have serious issues. Wife demands to know, WTH do you need that for - everything is rattling! Other than some slight cracklin* in the volume pot, everything is good, and by good I mean loud! . As for understanding electronics, I just keep trying...

85-90 pounds over the back half of the rear wheel, smeared over a pair of 1.5 foot or so moment arms to the sides...

Mixing speaker sizes can be glorious.

I appreciate everyone's wisdom. I should have just shot @G-Dog a private message and saved the time searching and scouring through. I seriously do appreciate the knowledge here in TB and here in the Rumble club. I guess I will go by the old adage, "Follow your heart." and start saving for that Rumble 1x15 cab.

Please let us know if, when and how much you like it. I would offer to lend you mine but you are too far away. When it is time, buy from a source who allows returns. That allows you to keep your options open.

I hold no claim to "the fount of all knowledge". I have opinions that can sometimes, quite often actually, be wrong. Just ask Mrs. Dog! Asking the whole Club like you did is really the best way to go. We don’t always agree as much as we did this time.
