I've been wearing a watch(not the same one)for over 60 years-feel undressed w/o one.
Says the guy wearing a Hawaiian shirt ... (I work from home and wear shorts and-t-shirts if I decide to get dressed, btw)

"Bless me Dave, for I have sinned..."
I cheated last night. I feel guilty but it felt so good..! I jammed with a new band last night and at the jam place, they had all this equipment set up, including the bass rig. So I took my P bass and a cord. The rig was a 500 watt Orange Terror connected to 2 Orange 1x12 cabs. I didn't want to do it but I couldn't help myself. I plugged into that rig and IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!! What a sound! Low, rich, warm. Very clean but it felt a little dirty. All the things you'd want in some strange. I left last night wondering if I'd see that rig again. Probably shouldn't.
Will I be able to face my Rumble this morning..?
Tim
That rig is 62 lbs. My Rumble 500 is half that. I guess it depends how old you are and how good your back is.It's a fair problem to have. I have the Rumble for rehearsals, but my main amp for 6-7 years has been an Orange Terror Bass. I absolutely love how it sounds! Not quite the same as its big brother AD200, but damn near close enough at a fraction of the price and weight.
Would be curious to hear the TB through a Rumble cab or two, mind you...
Exactly. If I’m going to schlep a 62 pound rig, it’s gonna be my GK 400RB and my Avatar B210. And if I have help, the Avatar B115, too. That rig is 62 lbs. My Rumble 500 is half that. I guess it depends how old you are and how good your back is.

IME, it really depends on what kind of sound(s) you're striving for-Classic or Modern. Both can be achieved with a lotta non-intuitive EQing. The rumble Club Wiki has a buncha helpful hints.Haha yeah the extra pounds certainly can be a turn off! I have the head, which is still quite reasonable in weight, then use it with 1-2 light Markbass cabs. My rig typically clocks in at 40lbs. Not outrageous, but nor is it a Rumble combo! I just turned 35, but have chronic back pain (from a warehouse job injury in my very early 20s), so I do have to watch it. Currently, the extra heft is worth it for me; that Orange has something to its tone that I don't really get out of most current class D heads.
The Rumbles are, as far as I can tell, *insane* bang for the buck in all aspects of amp ownership. I'm still surprised by how capably the R40 holds up in a rehearsal situation! But, I wouldn't say they are best in class for tone when comparing with other similar offerings on the market; they're by no means the worst, far from it, but I don't find they separate themselves much from the pack, either. Hope not to cause offense in the official club, but those are my honest $0.02 after a little practical experience owning one now.
Its all good. I've had several in class combos over the last 3 years, 7-8, and I would say the Rumble series stacks up very well on all accounts against any I've tried. Have you tried the Rumble 500 2x10? Just crazy what it does at the price point its at and the weight it is. Hard to believe really...Haha yeah the extra pounds certainly can be a turn off! ADDENDUM: 'Course the other thing to keep in mind is that no one really pays attention to the bass player-unless he/she f---s* up.
*oul
LOL yeah bass players are generally neither seen *nor* heard!
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of very useable tones that come from this amp. Soulful and old school it has in spades! But there's a certain thickness/saturation (not distortion) the Orange puts out which feels a lot more like a full tube amp. The Rumble doesn't really do it, nor does my backup gigging head (TC BH250), though the Rumble is closer than the TC. I used to own a Little Mark III, and one of the clubs here I've played a ton down the years has a Little Mark Tube head, and neither of them do what the Orange does either. It's the only class D amp I've heard which feels like a "proper" tube amp. Not that that is necessary by any means! I mean, if I somehow only had a Rumble rig, I don't see myself suddenly losing out on any gigs/projects as a result of it.
@Michael Favata No, I haven't tried the 2x10 500, besides in-store. And that almost doesn't count! I have zero doubts it would be more than capable of being gigged (put another 2x10 cab underneath, and I'm sure it'd eat up even outdoor festival gigs for lunch). Hoping to come across one in a backline some day, now that the shows have started up again. First indoor show since the pandemic is coming up Friday night, and apparently they'll have backline waiting. Will it... Rumble? A fella can hope!
JMO: I, personally, have never heard an Orange amp, either for bass or guitar, that I’ve cared for. YMMV, of course.LOL yeah bass players are generally neither seen *nor* heard!

Amen! Who played on that track?
Staxx Records. Was that Duck Dunn?
Love me some old school Soul/R&B!
James Jamersons P-bass on anything Motown but I especially love what he did on the Tami Terrel and Marvin Gaye duet stuff!
And the Rumble is the perfect delivery device for that tone!
