Am I correct in that the EQ on a Rumble does not effect anything coming through the aux in? It is an independent circuit?
You are correct, 13. The Aux In and the headphone out are between the pre-amp and the power amp. So the pre-amp controls do not have any affect on the Aux signal.
I have read here, though, that the horn in the cabs and bigger combos do have a big affect on the tone of the Aux signal going through the speakers.
Oh, that’s the crux, if the wattage printed on the back (800W) of the amp is actually only half to each cab.
Well, Doug, that depends on the impedance and number of the cabs connected to the amp. If all cabs, from 2 or more, are at the same Impedance, they will split the power equally to each cab, whether it be zero (with the Master at zero) or cranked at full volume/power.
But, with a 2 ohm stable amp, like the Rumble 800 HD, an 8 ohm cab and a 4 ohm cab could be driven and the 4 ohm cab would get twice (up to 533.3W) what the 8 ohm cab gets (up to 266.7W)! Or with two 8 ohm cabs each getting ¼ of the power and a 4 ohm cab getting ½ the power. And there are several other possibilities, as this table from the Rumble 800 HD manual indicates.
