Fender Rumble Club

I have had a Rumble 800 since 10/2018..sign me up, please.

OMG! Troy McClure! I loved you in "Dial M for Murderousness", and you were totally awesome in "Cry Yuma". Can I have your autograph? @troy mcclure, you are now member #1460 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here, for general Rumblings, and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge. But, for bass modeling discussions, please use the Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 sub-thread.

Please tell us a bit about yourself, that your publicist hasn't already released, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular. Whatever your bass situation, you're bound to fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ...

Rumble On!

Running a Rumble 500 and 200 together with a Y splitter, or ?
I just took delivery of my R500 and R200 and have been thinking about 2 options when I need more power/punch for bigger shows without FOH support.
A: Run both combo’s side by side with a Y splitter connection from my 5 string active bass’s.
B: Get the 210 extension cab to use with either my R500 or R200.
Opinions and thoughts welcomed.
Cheers, Davyo

To run both amps from one bass, I'd daisy chain the amps from the back. It makes no difference whether you plug the bass into the 200 or 500 because the preamp sections are the same. A lot of us have done this before with amazing results. It takes one instrument cable to do it. All tone controls are now in one place because you are only accessing the second amp's power section. Give that a try and see if you like it. It's an easy experiment and I bet you'll love it!

As I mentioned in the thread where I made your aquaintance, daisy-chaining via the effects loop is the way to go. It gives you more or less the same power as adding the 210 cab, and a single instrument cable is all it takes. And since one preamp controls both power amps, you only have one EQ section and one volume control to deal with. Not to mention that you save a fair chunk of cash not having to shell out for an extra cab.

just run a cable from the effects send on one of the combos to the effects return on the other. You'll then control the whole 2*10 + 1*15, 490 w stack with the master combo. Works perfect.

The only justification I can see to run a "Y"-or better yet a splitter-would be to EQ the 2 amps differently for whatever reason(one clean, one w o/d ?). Otherwise, daisy chain 'em.

I always use an MXR M-80 to send my signal to mixer. Here is a photo from this Tuesday. There was about a 65% chance of rain so I used my backup sub 5 and the mxr was the only pedal I used as we were playing just a little bit as part of a sportscar racing event. I really like the bass EQ on the mxr. The treble is voiced kind of high, but I found with the sterling sub I turn the treble all the way up and it adds an upper end clarity that improves the sound. The rain held off until we were gone and I think there was about 250 to 300 people at the event.
