Fender Rumble Club

I haven't chimed in here lately, but I have an update: My rumble 350 finally has a cab-mate. I know...it's an Aggie, but I had been GAS'ing for it for months! If it weren't for another player's GAS to upgrade his gear, I likely wouldn't have snagged it for the price I did. Sweet cab though, and the 350 (yeah, the same one I bought for 100 bucks at GC last year) drives it very well. The amp's front rubber feet fit the grooves on the corners if I finagle it just right, hah!:smug: Now that I have cab-age, I have to spend some time "dialing it in". I have the Overdrive figured out, I just have to putz around with whichever "Shape" setting I want. The damn manual is around here somewhere...?

[off-topic] In a somewhat disappointing ironic twist, I have had the intent on using this on open-mic jams at a local bar/lounge. Well, after doing a "meet & greet", but not playing with the regular band, I find out a week later that the lounge changed owners and won't host open mics for the foreseeable future. Apparently, the place has been trading more hands in recent years than a joint at a Phish concert!

Edit: Woo-hoo!!!! Post #5000!!! Do I win a prize??

Congratulations TheAnalogKid! Looks good! Yes I remember when you snagged that outrageously great closeout deal of $99 for a brand new Rumble 350 head! :bassist: You are truly blessed. Rumble On!

I'm in! Brought my 500 combo home today. :D Couldn't find one in stock online, called a local mom-and-pop shop on a whim and they had one on the floor! Best part is that I got a better price than online, to boot.

The shop is Guitar Showcase in San Jose, in case you want to support them too.

Awesome! I haven't been to Guitar Showcase in years, but I've made a few purchases from them in the past.

what bass are you using? any other effects?

Hey man,

63' AV Precision with La Bellas > Darkglass VMTD > Fender Rumble 350 > Fender Rumble 2x8

As ridiculous as this sounds, it sounded more like a Tube amp than my SUNN does. The tone was VERY Little Bastard-ish.

Still waiting on my 112. Can't wait.

We all talk about the V3 Heads being amazing but I really think the V2 Cabinets are a work of art for the price.

I was having a problem with my 500 combo well not a problem but more of a delema. As we all know you have to turn the master up some to get it to open up not much but enough to where when I get that sweet spot my room would vibrate and give me nasty annoying harmonics. So I was faced with a decision either sell my home or get another amp for home practice. Well I ended up getting a v3 40 and man does it make a difference. Sounds just like its big brother but more manageable. I dont think it would be enough power for practice with a drummer and two half stacks but thats what I have the 500 for.

Played a couple of gigs going all-Rumble this weekend. First was in a small, odd room up in the Sunsphere here in Knoxville. Used the v3 500 head with the single 210 cab. Pretty good sound, but the bass was too boomy and hard to control. Tilting it back probably would have helped, but I wasn't near a wall to do that, so I should think about stashing a wedge of some sort in my toolbox. Overall, excellent considering the schlep it takes to get gear up into that place.

Second gig was in a giant room with concrete floors and angled, smooth ceilings, usually a sound nightmare. Remembering the boom problem, I was sure to bring my homemade decoupler platform to raise the amp off the floor a few inches. I also went full stack with double 210s. Great, great presence in the room. Getting it off the floor did wonders, eliminating the boominess, and having the full stack allowed the bass to be present in the room and keep peoples' booties shaking without being loud.

One thing I notice is that there's a lot of treble roll-off in these 210 cabs, even with the horns on. I actually dig that quite a bit. Really helpful when running dirt pedals, and I like that vintage tubey quality in the first place. It's opening my pedal setup a bit, which has been arranged to fight treble spikes and smooth out the sound. Also, if I really want bite and presence I can just hit the Bright switch, or else have a clean boost on my board since those almost always boost highs more than lows.

After open box, make some simple sound compare with my Rumble V2 75 watts (with US Eminence Beta 12A II) , EQ Flat.

To my ear, V3 Vs V2 sound is different voice character , the V3 200 sound little full in low & Lo-mid, MID tone is not tight/ punch as V2 75 with Eminence 12A .The D & G string sound become fuller.

With Vintage button engage along with horn off, V3 200 produce a tone make me recall the Vintage Voice Switch 1 by Marshall MB450H+MBC410, BUT V3 got much Ummmmhh!!!!

Overdrive tone totally different, ofcause V3 200 fuzz much nice.

The weight V3 200 (16kg) Vs V2 75 (27kg ) let me easy to move it; both size just almost same , those reason make me change my mind to pickup the 200 combo instead the 100 combo.

Normally my practise volume position with V2 75 is at 11'oclock, now V3 200 with Gain at 12 o'clock + Volume at 9 o'clock just equal the output. Still got lot Ready-To-Go output power!!!!

Very sastified with V3 200.The V2 75 is ready to let go.

Share opinion other than Rumble.

I have try Markbass Mini CMD 151P on last saturday, it sound clean ,Clear & Solid. Especially the Lo-Mid is tight.
Play with American Standard P, I can hear tone is different compare with V3 200.

If i own Jazz bass, i like CMD 151P over Rumble; But with P bass, i prefer the unique sound produce by Rumble.

I didn't even realize the Rumble Club thread was out here. I have a Rumble 500 Head that I use with an Avatar B212 Cabinet with Neos and the Rumble is simply amazing. I was reminded of this last week when I was playing on an open mic night with the band I am in and I asked the house bass player if I could switch in my Rumble head instead of his (the speaker cab wattage was comparable). My goodness, the difference was incredible. I play a Ric 4003 primarily and infrequently a Jazz Bass and this Rumble head is amazing. The only thing I have found is I can't keep it on the Avatar cabinet as it vibrates right off. I have not yet rigged up anything to anchor it to the cabinet.

Alright so, I received the 500 head last Wednesday and was only able to test it out via the headphone jack since my cabs spend most of their time at the practice space. Normally, I play through a QSC RMX 2450 with a Sansamp Paradriver DI which sounds great to my ears, but it is a backbreaking endeavor every time we have to load out for shows. This is the reason I got the 500 head. Before loading out for the show this past Saturday I gave it a quick 3 minute whirl through my modified, tweeterless Avatar B212 just to see if everything functions as it should. This beefy little bastard surpassed all of my expectations. It was super loud with a voicing that is a lot bassier than I expected. I actually had to roll off the bass to 10 o'clock.

We took the stage at midnight (what the heck? Thanks Mr. Vocalist.) I flipped the amp on and cranked the master to noon. I didn't need to go any higher than that for our 4 piece punk band. The bass shook the whole bar. The best way I could describe it was vintage. I had everything set to flat except for the bass rolled off a little. I really loved how punchy the staccato notes sounded. I can't wait to experiment with the different sound possibilities next practice.

Edit: The carrying case/satchel is awesome!
