Fender Rumble Club

I found this Rumble video and, from the title, really looked forward to it. However, since he puts down the smaller combos early on, I began to wonder if he was gonna like any of them. Says the 100 is the smallest worth buying. He does seem very impressed with the power of the 200 and, especially, the Stage 800, as if those combos alone can put out their full power! However, he does mention that the 500 is only 350 watts alone and needs an extension cab for the full 500, but never lets on about the same situation for the 200 & Stage 800. He actually owns and really likes the plain, simple 500.

But he comes down very hard on the 15, 25 & 40 as too small and on the LT25, Studio 40 and Stage 800 for all the complicated modeling, Bluetooth app control, wifi updating, and extra cost. While he's certainly entitled to his opinions, which many here may agree with, I don't think it's very fair, much less "the ultimate", to include such strong opinions in a "buyer's guide".

Edited to add: There are no sound samples here, either! It's all just feature descriptions and opinions.

Two specific comments on this. First, his line right at the beginning, something like "I've seen a lot of people asking about Fender Rumble amps" as the reason why he made the video, sounds like B.S. to me. I think he just wanted to yak about Rumble amps (it was an easy video for him to make, using info from Fender, not playing any music, etc.). Second, his statement that with the R40 "you're gonna be pushing this to its absolute limit if you play with a drummer, even a quiet drummer" is counter to my experience. I've mentioned in other threads here that I have used my R40 with a very loud big band, and in musical theater, and I wasn't pushing it to anywhere near its absolute limit. I doubt the reviewer has actually used these amps in the settings he describes; he's just making general opinion statements.

At the risk of sounding heretical, I play thru a pair of Orange 1x12's at rehearsal (not mine--they're just stationed at my band's practice facility) and they sound mighty sweet. Not sure how their voicing compares to the Rumble's or if it's that they're 12's but they are very nice. But I do love my Rumble's 1x15 and 2x10's together.

I'm aware that the weight-and price-difference wasn't that much in Nov. 2015 when I got my 200c, but I'm just not as fond of 2x10s as I am 1x15. And at my age and decrepitness, every pound matters. Had I known the 'daisy chain' trick to begin with, I woulda bought 2 R100s(one at a time). Use both when needed(rarely), or 1 and a backup. Oh, well, too soon old, too late smart.
Addendum: BTW, I have daisy chained the 100>200c. O-M-G!

Now that we're in a new jam space I could get by with my Rumble Studio 40 no problem. I'm running a 200 watt amp at half power, setting the volume around 9 o'clock, through a 210. Sure I'd probably be pushing the Rumble but it could do it.

Yesterday was a Catholic holiday...Ascension Day. Holidays in France are more for hordes of peeps taking off work and having drinks and food outside, not so much for shopping for expensive stuff on sale. Deep discounting doesn't happen here nearly as often. The Le Moulleau area a mile south of where I live was absolutely bonkers yesterday. The beaches were packed, and so were the outdoor restaurants and bars. It was WAY busier yesterday than what this photo shows. You can't tell from the photo, but you're looking at five restaurants, two bars, a bakery and some clothing stores before the cross street you can't see, and some treats shops, bike rentals, two apartment buildings, a hotel, two more clothing stores and two restaurants between the cross street and the beach. That strip of land in the distance would take me over an hour to drive to. The huge Arcachon Bay is to the right. The Atlantic Ocean is to the left and in the distance. One of the top 3 oyster producing areas in France. They're cheap and delicious. Love living here, even though I don't get the big sales. :cool:

What a beautiful area. Great that you get to enjoy it. If I ever go back to France, I'd love spend some time in an area like that (went once on a business trip, stayed in Paris for a couple of days.)

So has the Rumble 500C. I have played th BA 115 several times and it is a very good amp. I just like the Rumble series better, so I think it is a fair call.
BTW, I have a 40c, 100c, a 500 head, and a 2x10 cab. So it might be fair to say I'm a Rumble fan and my 100c get most of the work. I traded my 500c for a Bassman 500 hybrid.

BTW, Ascension Day isn’t exclusively Catholic - it’s a holiday here in Norway as well, and we’re mostly Lutheran (the ones who belong to a religion, that is).

They could tell I am in France, switched me to the Fender site that ships to France. The whopping savings was 315 € instead of 349 €. Whoop-dee-f'ing-do. Like I said, we don't get the big discounts here. Still, better than nothing. But I already bought a Studio 40. When I get into a permanent house, I'll buy my 200c/210. Neither of those had any discount. I buy from Thomann anyway.

I belong to no religion. My father was a Lutheran preacher who failed to beat the love of J into me. And he tried. Many times. Sad to say, but I don't miss him even a little bit. But I'm happy for the holiday!
