Fender Rumble Club

Well, it got here before this weekend!
Stole this sucker from GC used page...right at $220 after tax and shipping, and it is MINT!

Vintage knob on, all EQ set at noon, master volume as needed, and it sounds fantastic! It is incredibly lightweight too!

Well I pulled the trigger on the 500, will be here Tuesday. I did this without trying it out, had to order online, based solely on reviews and videos. Around here, you can't get one until December 2022, all out of stock. Crazy. Hoping I won't need an extension cab, but if I do, I do. I've been playing a 350 watt Bassman TV15 since new, and it's been great until recently. So hopefully the Rumble 500, with 350 watts will give me what I need. I bought a rumble 60 when that first came out many moons ago. Still use it for practice. I even used it at small gigs, and always love the sound. Also used the Evo and 410 deep cab Ashdown. Of course I also have the Peavey Max head, with a Traynor 210 15 cab, that I will likely never use again! All that stuff is for young guys. Old man back does not allow itself to continuing hauling heavy stuff. Just reality. Anyway, onward we go!

Hola, Dub! @Jay_Dub, you are now member #1503 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

If the 350W Bassman TV has been sufficient for you, then I don't think you'll need an extension cab with the Rumble 500 combo. The few times I've used one with mine, even outdoors, it was unnecessary overkill, though the feeling of all that headroom was awesome!

How about telling us a bit about yourself, Dub, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular. Pictures are encouraged, though not required. But whatever your situation, you're bound to fit right in here 'cause we have all kinds! But we all love to ... ... ...

As @G-Dog says, look at the Rumble Club Wiki. These things EQ much differently than other-even 7ender-amps. I have 3(40, 100, 200c)and love 'em.

  • Is it rated 400 watts Continuous? 400 watts Program? 400 watts Peak?
    • 400 watts Program is only about 200 watts Continuous
      • 400 watts Peak is only about 200 watts Program: and about 100 watts Continuous
  • Since the Rumble 500 combo can possibly send the cab 250 watts Continuous, you may need to keep the Master turned down if the cab is 400W Program: and even further down if the cab is 400W Peak!!
The 8 ohm rating is perfect. The Rumble can can take no less. More is OK, but not ideal.

I have a Bassman 1x15-inch Eminence Neodymium cab rated at 350 watts Continuous that sounds wonderful with my Rumble 500 combo. And I don't have to worry about overpowering it.

Please let us know how it goes.

Yeah it's 400 watts program, so maybe I better pass. Based on this, it's about 50 watts shy at full capacity? Thanks for the great info!

While that appears to be true, Jay, some manufacturers rate their products very conservatively and they actually can take a bit over their rated amount. You may have to research that for your case.

The poster-child for this is the Rumble 210 cab, rated very conservatively as a new product back in 2014 at just 350 watts Continuous (since it has the same drivers as the 350W Cont. @ 8 ohms Rumble 500 combo). Yet, in 2018 Fender begins producing the Rumble Stage 800 combo running 400W Continuous at 8 ohms into the exact same 2x10" drivers as the Rumble 500 combo and 210 cab! This, after 4 years field experience, but without re-rating the 210 cab, which is available to match the Stage's black grille cloth! :confused:
