Fender Rumble Club

The 500 already has acoustic filling, doesn't it? I added acoustic foam to my 100 and am pleased with the result.
Yes, it does. Of course, changing the drivers might alter things, so more filling may be required. But I’m very happy with the stock sound. I used to own the 100, and was satisfied with that sound as well without adding any acoustic filling, but YMM, as always, V. :)

The 500C Experiment:
Sounds good without being a little boomy, as with the original drivers. Very TIGHT! I like it. :hyper:

I see the stock drivers are 16 ohm but the Basslites are 8 ohm...so is it now a 4 ohm load, receiving all the 500 watts? Cause that could be cool, but could also be bad if youre using an ext cab

Correct. Put some Gorilla tape or something over the external cab out spot so you won't forget! That's what I did.

About half of the back of the cabinet is covered. The lower half. Nothing but wood on the upper half on mine. Well, ... not anymore. ;)

NOTE: For anyone who is interested, I came from a hi-fi background where the ideal speaker cabinet does not have standing waves. Damping the cabinet with something helps to eliminate those standing waves. Some speaker designers make the cabinet in an odd shape to achieve the same goal.

how do you add filling to a rumble ? do y’all think the 200 needs it? Just curious. Does the 200 already come with padding? Also is the 200 cab specifically “tuned”?

I've read that all the Rumble products were designed to play well together, tone-wise, to help ease the process of choosing between models, or an extension cab. So, it may be possible that additional lining or stuffing could interfere with that. But, hey, "beauty is in the ear of the beholder."

I've read that the 200 and 500 are the only Rumble combos that come with any internal lining, but I assume that is also the case with the Stage 800, given its similarity to the 500. I believe I read that it's a fairly conservative lining, approximately 1/4" in thickness and only on the back, top and one side, IIRC. That's why additional lining, or stuffing, can still change the tone. Looking into the port(s) of your Rumble may let you see if it has some lining.

Usually, removing the grille then unscrewing, and removing, the speaker(s) are the easiest access to a combo's cabinet internals. Working thru the speaker holes to add adhesive lining to some of the inside walls can be a bit awkward depending on the size, number and placement of the speaker holes.

But, Beware: this could be a warranty-voiding modification that could end up costing you to get an authorized repair during the warranty period!

OR, simply putting some material in the ports is a quick & easy way to see if you'll like the change in tone. So, to just "put a sock in it" could save you some time and expense. :smug:

First, my apologies if this has been covered somewhere in the 2500+ pages.

Recently scored a Rumble100 for an excellent price as part of a package deal (Squier VM Jazz, Gator soft case, Rumble)

How does the Rumble 100 do if asked to be a stage monitor only?

We always play with PA support and I have an amp onstage because I like to hear an amp next to me.

I regularly go to a jam session that has a 100. One of the drummers plays like Animal and the amp isn’t enough for him. Every other drummer it is fine. So I guess YMMV

I've used my 100 as a monitor only for the drummer and the other side of the stage when I ran my 200 as my bass amp. As a monitor it worked great!

Aloha, double-naught Sixx! @Sixx 006, you are now member #1517 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

For discussions of bass modeling please use your Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 sub-thread so as to keep this main thread less complicated. ;)

Well, double-naught, there was one recent user who found that editing the volume in the presets helped get the improved volume he sought. You might try that and let us know if it helps.

I've not heard of a source for replacement ICE modules.

You sound desperate! You could just run the Studio's FX Sends into the instrument inputs of bigger amps for reinforcement. That's what I do with my Rumble Studio to my Rumble 500 combo for mono, or the 2nd FX Send into the input of my Bassman 500 for stereo.

Or, even simpler, why not just get a Stage 800 and use that for your loud requirements?

Please keep us informed of your progress.

It's really just a tinker project and I have some bigger amps for getting loud. Like a Ashdown CTM 300. It just was sweet when I ran the small 200watt TC electronic Bam 200 from FX send to the speaker. It seems like if I could just hack a day 300watt module in there it would be perfect. Instead of slaving the bam200 which works. IDK I'll keep at it until I get it
