Fender Rumble Club

Gigging with a 40c? Cool
A drummer with a light touch?
Yes. Jazz background. Sometimes doesn't play loud enuff.
Oh. Also hadda use my SS Epi EB-0 due to lack of space. Most of the places we play were not built for live music. And we're losing this one after June 'cos ASCAP raised their fee to the point it isn't worth it for the venue.

That’s even cooler :cool::cool:
That’s a light load in for you! Do you out there 40c on a stand?
Yes.

It would be a light load in, but, since I sing and can't remember all the lyrics, I also have a mic stand, music stand, duffel bag with mics, cables, lyrics book, and some other [stuff], plus my stool(bad knees). It's 2 or 3 trips. And sometimes we use my PA which is a Yamaha powered mixer into a JBL EON ONE rolled in in my cart.

OK, that’s a good bit of gear. Funny that the bass gear is the lightest!

I forgot to mention the train whistle for "Folsom Prison Blues"(also in the duffel).

Hi Rumblers,

Any of you here previously (or still) run a GK-1001RBII?

I have one now and although I am perfectly happy with it, it is getting up there in age and I *might* be getting back to gigging soon, so I am thinking about what I would get if it decided it had had enough.

The Rumble 500 is one of those options I'm thinking about, and it seems to get a lot of love. I have not tried one yet.

So I'm wondering if anyone here can compare/contrast the Rumble 500 to a 1001RBII. I've seen a few threads, but it never hurts to hear more. Thanks.

Bummer about the venue. Do you know if ASCAP raised their rates for that specific venue or raised them in general?

The R40 is more capable than it seems. I am quite conservative with my amps, trying to never push them hard. I have had a couple of my last set of gigs when I brought a more powerful (larger, heavier, more hassle) setup only to realize the R40 could have done the job easily.

I have a gig coming up in about 4 weeks in a small bar/restaurant which my R40 should be able to do the job. But it seems, just like in the 80's, nobody got fired for buying IBM (I worked for HP), nobody gets fired for bring more a powerful setup than needed.

Yesterday’s show. Hey, @SoulReflection shout out to you. Your old R-115 put to good use. And it was perfect.

Paired with R200c. I’m not particularly fond of the amp in general but yesterday I have to admit it sounded great. Thick and solid. Volume knob to about 9:30 if it were a clockface. I didn’t want to blowout the people around us.

FWIW, usual 10/2/2/10 EQ, G-9, V-10, VINTAGE and BRIGHT-on.
I coulda brought the R100, but I've played there b4 and knew the R40 could cut it plus space is really tight.

IDK specifics about the ASCAP thing. The manager told me on a break then disappeared for the rest of the night.

I'm playing bass tonight at a local club, and I wanted my best tone, so I did some experimenting today with the Rumbles. I recently got a second Rumble 100 so I tried stacking them. Then I tried my 200 by itself. Then..... I put a 100 on top of the 200 and daisy chained them and was amazed. That lush knee-deep layer of bass that the 200 always brings and the upper definition of the 100. The 12 and 15 play extremely well together. As much as I wanted to love the two 100s together, the 100/200 combination was so much better to my ears. Inspiring. It's what I'll be taking tonight.

Great news, @CharleyJackson! I am very happy the R-115 worked out for you.

But, to clarify, the R-115 was not old ;).

It was new, considering it had only been used for a few minutes after I bought it. As I am not playing out and, to preserve my marriage and every thing in my home, I sold it to someone who could put it to good use.

Congrats. May it serve you well :thumbsup:.
