Fender Rumble Club

I’ve been primarily a guitar player since I began playing back in 1957. I do have a Squire VM CAR short scale Jaguar bass and a RUMBLE 15 that Bought it probably close to 15 years or more ago. I just use for my home recordings. Too late to get a number?

Well, I haven’t expired yet, but did go through 7 weeks of chemo and radiation last fall. Cancer free now! So my expiration date hasn’t come up yet.

Howdy-doody, howie! @howardlo65, you are now member #1600 in the Fender Rumble Club. Please put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Congratulations and welcome to TalkBass in general and The Club in particular. And I'm especially pleased to induct another cancer survivor! Make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

I also relate to you as a guitar player from way back in the "Happy Days" of our youth. What kinda music got you interested? And if you have a 15-year-old Rumble it must have furry covering and rubber corners! And the coveted red, pulsing light in the port at the bottom! A real collector's item.

Please tell us a bit more about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular. We have all kinds here, so you're bound to fit right in. But we all love to ... ... ...

Rumble On!

Hey, howie! I just bumped into you in the Short Scale Bass Club and love the pic of your Squier Jaguar bass there (copied here). Looks like it's plugged into, or at least in front of, a Fender Mustang guitar amp, a Rumble modeling amp cousin! Could that be your Rumble 15 to the left (with chrome corners)? A clearer pic of it would be appreciated.

I also found your new TB member intro post, too! Welcome, again!!

I'm happy for you! Keep fighting!

I lost my beloved mum because of cancer less than a week ago

Condolences, mat. Tough to lose loved ones, no matter how they go.

I thought I might be saying my goodbyes to everyone just 30 years ago with prostate cancer. No symptoms! Found by then-routine PSA tests. I believe those tests are no longer routinely recommended for men in their 40s, but are supposed to wait 'til your 50s! Luckily, one surgery completely cured me with minimal recovery, no chemo, no radiation, no side effects. But I'd have been in big trouble if I'd waited 10 years!!!

PS: My sons have started taking the PSA test in their 40s due to family history. So far, so good. I recommend it to any guy in their 40s!!

So, how's about telling us a bit about yourself, droo, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular. You're gonna fit right in here since we have all kinds.

Thanks for the kind welcome, and thanks to the group at large for your thoughts when I asked earlier about your Rumble experience.

I'm getting to the age where you start to realize you've been doing things for a really long time. Started playing guitar in 1980 and bass in '85. Did most of my rock band bass playing in the 90's, then in 2000 switched over to an acoustic duo (playing guitar, mandolin, and a little upright bass) which has really been my musical outlet ever since. Had kinda given up on the electric band thing until very recently when a friend at work pulled me into a Grateful Dead-ish band he was trying to put together with the promise of a gig. What can I say, I'm a cheap date.

Maybe it was some retail therapy, but I've now spent a silly amount of money on new gear this year, for the first time in many years. The new Rumble will have it's first gig next week, as will the Yamaha TRBX505 I bought to try a 5-string again (and wound up really liking it). Fun to be back in the full band again.
