That’s fine. I’ve read the Fender stuff. I’m glad it works for you and lots of others. But the Fender compression (minimal at lower volumes, which is where I mainly play right now) is a completely different type of compression than most, if not all, pedals. So even at higher volumes I might want my pedal, just as some people want multiple distortion, phaser, or other pedals.Hey Miles,
I didn't discover this myself. A fellow TBr dug around in the Fender literature. Apparently, they baked this in to the sound, which works for me BTW. Perhaps your settings are different.
The bottom line, no disrespect is intended.

if you don’t need/want pedals with Rumbles, they sound great! If you want/need pedals with Rumbles, they sound great!

But it's not new or exclusive to Rumbles, it's been around a very long time on many various Fender amps. Although not necessarily the first instance in print, this description is from the Fender M-80 Bass amp manual over 30 years ago, which had a Delta-Comp on-off button on front!
Simply put, it is a dynamic compressor that responds to clipping by limiting the distortion.

Then I got to thinking if one wanted a bit more compression, could turn the volume to 1 or 2 o'clock or whatever and bring your overall volume down using the volume control on your bass to compensate, so your volume level is ok, but getting the amount of compression you want? Or am I simply demonstrating how very little I understand about all this??
And does the gain on the Rumble affect this compression in any way?

It is described as being "dynamic" and "responding to clipping", and the block diagrams show it taking input from a clip detector. I further surmise that clip detector not only turns the Delta-Comp on, but tells it what level(s), or amount(s), of clipping it detects, thus "tuning" the amount of compression applied. At least, that's my theory.
Also, although the Gain control description doesn't specifically mention any effect on the Delta-Comp circuit, I believe it certainly does effect the timing and level of clipping, and therefore the level of compression.

No, but I think I'll have to try it out just for fun. If we all used the same identical settings on our Rumbles every time, they wouldn't even need to come with knobs.I just realised that having the drive on, but drive set at zero has a fairly significant impact on the sound. Not me. I used it as a Mute (both knobs fully CCW) and switched it with the Fender pushbutton foot switch on my 200 and 40 combos (sold before moving to 230V land).I just realised that having the drive on, but drive set at zero has a fairly significant impact on the sound. Not a direct answer to your question, but I recently got one of these to use bluetooth from an android tablet to the aux in on my R100. It works really well; no more messing with cables. Get one with Bluetooth 5 for low power use and low latency.Question for the Rumble hive mind...indirectly a Rumble question...
I love using my iphone/R40c aux in as music source i play along/practice with at home. I use a 3.5 male x 3.5 male cable which plugs into an Apple 3.5 female x Lightning adapter, so i can plug my iPhone music source into the R40c aux in. Hope that makes sense, i can take pics if needed.
Problem is lots of static if i touch or move iPhone, i've tried a variety of 3.5 cables. Could be the Apple 3.5 x lightning adapter is the prob source, can't tell.
Question: can anyone recommend a high quality cable with 3.5 male at [amp] end and Apple lightning at other end, no adapter needed?
