Fender Rumble Club

I prefer a dark-ish tone, so the onliest time I use the horn in my 200c is on breaks playing the CD player through the amp. In the 'book of words'(manual), it states that using the horn may add unwanted distortion. For me, all distortion is unwanted.
Like you, I never use the horn on my 200c or 500c. However, I actually find the overdrive work fine, and I use it all the time with my EB3 1967 and sometimes with my Thunderbird 1990.

I had a brief chance to plug my SGT-DI into the FX return of the R100. TL;DR: the R100 and SGT-DI are fairly meh to ugh together. They are better off separated. Still, just brief initial impressions.

All impressions are without a cab sim engaged.

First, the SVT circuit with low to mid SGT settings were pretty decent. Not up to the SGT-DI as a headphone amp or recording device through the DI but is "rockable".

Second, the B15 circuit with any SGT settings. Er...not so much. The R100's 12 is tuned different than the B15's 15 and it shows.

Third, the Preamp section of the SGT-DI alone into the R100. Not bad, but not as good as my RB-110. What struck me was the way highs were handled. There is a different quality to the frequency range but especially in the treble region. The R100, by itself, has a very nice "exciter"-like quality to the treble region. It lends itself well to no grit to mild grit. I missed that treble quality when using the SGT-DI with the R100.

Are all of your observations with the FX return?

I used to use a B15N back in the early 70s. If I were attempting to duplicate that tone through a Rumble with a pedal or preamp, I'd definitely use my 200 for the 15-inch speaker and not one of my 100s. A large part of the B15's and the B100 Rocket's great tone was the 15-inch speaker in a ported cabinet.

I wanted to try with what I own and see how it turned out. I agree with you. The 12 and the tuning of the R100's cabinet does not align with a good B15 tone from the preamp section.

When I plug a stereo 3.5mm jack cable that isn't plugged into anything into the Aux in on my recently purchased, used, Rumble 100 the output of the amp jumps up, this is especially noticeable when listening on headphones. As soon as I plug the other end of the cable into something eg phone or laptop, the output level drops back down again.
Does this happen with anyone else's Rumble 100?

I just tried it with my Rumble 100 and it does bump the volume a bit! hmmmm i think i'll leave connected now ha.

I would ask this question of @agedhorse. He is an [THE] expert on this sort of thing.

Seems you just did, Gravy Davy. :bag: That makes two of us.
.

Both of my R100s do the same thing. I need to adjust to volume when I plug a device into aux in.

I have it on very good elderly authority, of an equine nature, that "it is possible if the summing node is grounded with no plug inserted. It depends on the aux input and summing circuit ...". Alas, further elucidation is unavailable due to road duty. But, perhaps later ... ... ...

... ... ... please stay tuned ... ... ...

We don't go by a set list. We just 'feel' the crowd. I normally don't have access to the amp except b4 downbeat or on breaks, so I set it for the room acoustics and the mostly 60s/70s rock and crossover country that we play, with occasional tweaks to the tone on my bass.

Finally got my 2x10 cab. Trying it out tonight. Got a great deal on it, but can return it if it doesn't meet my expectations. There was an internal brace (front to back) that was loose, causing a rattle, that was replaced, glued and screwed into place (see 3rd pic for screws). Came with a quilted cover! Looking forward to rehearsal (and drummer audition) tonight!

My older brother bought a new Roland piano, so he gave me his Yamaha P-125 for the studio. I needed a piano bench that was between 18 and 22 inches. The Rumble 200 was 19 inches lying on its side. Now if I only knew how to play piano.View attachment 5145405

You can start new club: Rumble Butts! Lol

You can be like Paul McCartney, bass and ‘boards. Suggestion: start with the Let it Be intro.

Or Fur Elise

Extension cab did great at rehearsal! I easily cut through the mix! (Read - you could hear all my mistakes. ). Drummer audition did not go nearly as well. This one is out of contention.

Ashdown makes a "Rumble Butt" cab with the Studio Speaker Stool!

I know, not a Fender Rumble cab, but it fit the application!

Came with a cover???

I just purchased a 2x10 to go with my 800c from SweetWtr. All I got was some candy.

None of the Rumble cabs (or amps, for that matter) come with a cover. This is obviously a third-party cover. I'm betting that @RL5 bought a used product. :)

Bingo! Yes, found it on Craigslist somewhat locally, but couldn't get with the seller in time originally. The first buyer returned it due to some internal rattling at higher volumes. The seller found and fixed the issue and sold it to me (with cover) at an even better price than he originally had it listed for. Could not pass up that deal. Less than half of what new ones are selling for on Reverb or online stores, and even less than I saw a used one listed for on here. Would have liked a black grill to match my Stage 800, but couldn't pass up this deal, and I can change the grill if I choose to. I wasn't expecting the cover. That was an added bonus. Like I said, too good a deal to pass up.

I have the Black Cover on my 210 and would trade covers with you. I had the Stage 800 and went back to the 500c. I'm headed to a wedding this weekend in Denver and could bring it with me if your interested we could swap tomorrow or on my way back Sunday.

Are “amp cozys” now a thing? I think my grandmother had a tea cozy.

No. No, they're not. "Cozys" are thermal insulation to keep things, such as tea, warm. They are probably about as old as the practice of making tea. "Koozies" are also thermal insulation, but to keep things, such as beer cans, cool. They are probably only as old as the mid 20th century with the rise of foam insulating plastic for cold beverage cans. Amplifiers do not need thermal insulation.

However, "slipcovers" for furniture and "slipcases" for books are physical protection for those things, as are "amp covers" for amplifiers. Such covers, and cases, can be made of various materials* and thicknesses to provide various amounts of protection. They are probably not as old as "cozys", but older than "koozies". Amp covers are probably just a bit younger than mass produced amplifiers.
