I'm just wondering if you've tried Ampeg's SVT Suite plugin. There are a number of Ampeg VSTs out there, but this one's pretty good. There's also a standalone version just for jamming.Funny you should mention a single tube. I though I could get away with a tube pedal and sell the 20T. I bought two of them at $250 each only to find they couldn't hold a candle to the 20T, especially for recording. Maybe they are OK live, a lot of people like them. I sold the two pedals. The experiment cost $100.
To me and others, there is something about an actual tube amp with multiple tubes and transformers.
As far as waiting for Fender or anyone else to make the perfect one-trick-pony, I am not holding my breath. Look at our experience with the compressor on the SGT-DI! I am happy with my SGT for what it does well...as always YMMV and IMHO!
Yeah, I wish I'd've gotten the second powered 2x15 cab. No use for it now, but back then...Back in the early 70s, a 50 or 100-watt piggy-back Fender Bassman was what our band used. Late 70s I had the black Kustom 250 Bass amp with matching cabinets. The second cabinet had its own built in power amp. Four 15s did the job.
That must be one loud band. I run a 500 with gain about 3 and volume about 4 with a 3 piece. Finally got to play my 800c “out” last night! Heavy-handed drummer, Mesa Boogie guitarist, and me playing a 4-hour bar gig. Had a good time and made a little spending money!
As for the Rumble… I thought it did great! It was nice being able to easily match the volume of my bandmates. I was surprised how high I needed to crank it — gain and master at probably 1 or 2 o’clock — but it still sounded clear and had room to spare. (This was on full power, btw.) I ended up not using any of the voicings and running the EQ at noon. Typically, I set the EQ “flat” (10,2,2,10) and use the bright switch with or without the vintage engaged, as well. I honestly don’t like a bass-heavy tone. I know that sounds like sacrilege, and maybe I’m not explaining myself well, but I want to cut through and sound melodic in addition to simply shaking the room, if that makes sense. I think, especially in a 3-piece, it’s important to help shape the song, and it just gets too muddy, imo, when it’s nothing but rumble. Every room (or outdoor venue) is different, and this was my first experience with the 800, so… Idk… Anyway, I certainly didn’t hear the fan!
I also got use my Poly Blue Octave more last night than usual. Again, it can get muddy with all four guys (we’re usually a 4-piece), but with just us 3, there was plenty of sonic space for throwing in the octaver on numbers like “Superstitious” and “Uptown Funk.”
The 800c is, for me, a definite keeper. Hopefully, I can use it for a long time to come. (Oh, I might mention… I decided not to carry my 40w, but next time I probably will stack it on top just for a little extra sound, almost like a monitor, and because it will look sort of bad ass.![]()

Ampeg – Bass guitar amplification
.I have a couple general questions. Would I be correct in assuming my new R1[0]0c will likely not need an extended warranty? ... ... ...
... ... ... Also, is the amp cover recommended? ... ... ...
... ... ... I love chickenhead knobs. Fender has some: these worked for. Would they fit on the Rumble's pots and turn without colliding with each other? Thanks!
Note that the Ampeg plugin also includes SGT-DI emulation. From their website:I don't have that particular one but, I do have the Brainworx B15 and Bassdude (for Fender) plugins. They are great for providing the 60s tones that I love. I have the Ampeg SGT-DI which satisfies my SVT itch.

Yes. Yes, you are correct that it is likely it will not need the store's extended warranty. That's why they sell it. Just like all insurance and car & appliance warranties, it makes money for the seller. Of course, there are always the few times they do have to make good, but not as many times as when they don't have to pay out!
It's a peace-of-mind decision. My wife always gets it for her kitchen gadgets, even though we've never used one.7ender's warranty is 2 years. If you don't use that, then it's very unlikely you'll need an extended warranty.
IMO, yes, even the thin, unpadded7ender amp cover is worthwhile. It's tough enough to provide protection in transit, not to mention from dust!
Well, these worked for @twinfallsbass! I dunno if they are the same ones you linked. Maybe he'll tell us?
Some bigger ones didn't quite work for @Miles_ONeal, though.

That was my thought too. Normally run my 200c indoors with gain depending on bass at 9-12 and volume at 10-11, we are a five piece, with two guitarist, drums, bass and vocalsThat must be one loud band. I run a 500 with gain about 3 and volume about 4 with a 3 piece.
I'm similar 'cept we're 2 guitars, drums, and me with the 2 guitarists and me alternating lead vocals. We have enuff trouble getting paid for 4 so a singer(only)isn't an option. That was my thought too. Fender has some: Invalid Link Removed. Would they fit on the Rumble's pots and turn without colliding with each other? Thanks!

I have the Chicken Heads on 1 of my Rumbles. They DO fit (don't use the little black spacers they sell separately). I like the look and they provide a nice at-a-glance feedback of knob position. The tail ends, however, do collide with an adjacent knob tail end at certain settings. But I've found it easy enough to overcome. ... ...

They look cool but they are not as easy to see the settings.

Yo, yo, yo, Timbo! Did you get yo Chicken Heads from7ender, or elseways? I believe @Miles_ONeal got his "big Heads" elseplace(s), but it looks to me like @twinfallsbass got the7ender ones.
Also, do you recall where you got yo Invalid Link Removed, if they didn't come with the knobs? I see the7ender Invalid Link Removed don't come with screws.

- Set-screw mounting (screws sold separately)
- Introduced on tweed-era Fender amplifiers
- Used on. ... ... ...
... ... Yeah, screws sold separately. Grrrrrrrr....

Are your chicken head knobs the Fender units?
Yeah, screws sold separately. Grrrrrrrr....
Hello all! New Rumble 200c in the mix! Prepping for a few gigs later in the year and putting together a small cover group.
Found my way here exploring extension cabinets and thought you all smelled right!
Cheers!
