Fender Rumble Club

Hola, dag! I see in your profile that you have a Fender 115 cab with your Ampeg V-4B head. Might that be a Rumble cab, which would qualify you for The Club here? We'd love to have you join. :smug:
.
Thank you for asking. No, better in my opinion! I say that in jest. I don't recall playing a rumble cab. Had a Rumble combo for a while.

It's a great cab. I'm generally not too fond of single speaker cabs, and this is the only one I have, but this one is really sweet.

Does anyone know what ohm speakers go in the Fender Rumble 210 700 watt cab?

8 Ohm speakers

Madjack, is your a recent model? Mine came yesterday and says 8 ohm on it. Fenders website says 8 ohm too. Now I gotta open mine up and see what's really in there.

The Rumble 2x10" cabs, like the combos, have two 16 ohm speakers connected in parallel, which makes the cab 8 ohms.
.

You can get different cab options with your Rumble 800. Skip the head, audition and buy cab(s) instead. It can run a single 400w 8 ohm cab, or two 266w 8 ohm cabs, or a single 533w 4 ohm cab! Speaker sizes and cab material/weights are your choice. And the 800's built-in 2x10" is a ready comparative reference for whichever cab(s) you try.
.

I know its not the same thing at all as what an extension cab would get me, but just for fun I put the Rumble on top of the Traynor and plugged the bass into the Helix, running completely separate paths into each amp. Panned L/R for the L/R outputs of course so its an entire path going into each unit.

BOY is it ever thick sounding, at least for a 400w 2x10 on top of the 200w 1x15 with me positioned a few feet of the whole shebang and at serviceable volume. I have since put the helix away, but I will say that it was neat having a separate signal chains going into each unit where I could mix them from the helix and add EQ or drive etc to a specific amp. Even though the Traynor is a 15" speaker, I can definitely tell there is something juicy going on with the extra speaker surface. Now I really want to get my hands on the 210 extention.

Maybe its the magic of even more speakers moving a bit of air. In a smaller room the single 115 seems to have that roundness and depth I like, though the room and volume may be more at play here than I think.

Oh the joys eh? I think I have at least a serviceable baseline of knowledge/experience to get off the ground and this is a very helpful community.

Playing between these 2 basses today, they both play nice of course I have them setup just as I like. The JB has new strings, love the bright tone.
All my basses sound good to me, through my Rumble 200. I do tweak the EQ depending on the bass, as all my basses have different tones and I kind of know by now what's needed.
I hear a lot of dislike for the 15inch, but it serves me well. However, I do want to get the new 800C. Cheers!

??? Whaaa... ??? I hear nothing but love for the Rumble 15" speaker, both in the 200 combo and in the cab. Lotsa different bass head users love the Rumble 115 cab, even Fender Bassman users! What kinda complaints do you hear, Fear?

Some Rumblers might think I don't like them, (but I do, I love 'em) 'cause I'm always warning of the 115 cab's 300 watt rating in use with amps that could put 400-500 watts into them! Luckily, though, most people using them in such possible high watt service seem to have good service. And Fender's ratings are reputed to be very conservatively low, such as the 210 cab rated 350 watts continuous (700 watts program), yet it is actually being recommended for 400 watt continuous service with the Rumble 800s!

You and me both, Dr. Evil! However, my Rumble 500 and Bassman 500, my 700 watt BassRumbMan, preclude any actual need I could even pretend to claim. (sigh)

I read that some people think the 15 inch speaker is too boomy and they like the punch and the way 2x10's cuts through the mix better.
Here was a recent post from the FaceBook Fender Rumble club page:
"Just bought the 500 2x10…..I did not like the 200 15 at all on stage. Way too boomy…..I love the 500"
My friend has a 500 and I like the tone a lot, but I got my 200 used for a great deal and it still works fine.
But sooner or later, I'll get the new 800!

Hmmm, ... well, maybe we're both exaggerating a bit, as people do, but in opposite directions. I have read something like your quote somewhere, so I admit to overstating my position. Personally, as an ex-15" snob, I no longer believe in such pronounced differences as many people claim to hear. I'm sorry to have questioned you on it. Please accept my apology.

I have the R200 Head and both the R115 and R210 cabs. Both sound great with the amp tuned to the true flat setting (& fine tuning to taste). I've tried both alone and together. Of course, both is the best tone, but of the two, if I use just one, I prefer the R115.

Just got myself a really nice used Rumble 500! $300 bucks for it! I can only say this is one of the best combo bass amps I’ve tried! It sounds amazing! I was kinda skeptical about the 2x10’s being a 1x15 fan, but it’s s super tight, punchy and surprisingly a lot of low end! The push buttons for modeling your sound are so usefull, and heck I even liked the distortion in this thing. I see myself using it just by itself, without my pedalboard, but heard that it takes pedals very well…speaking of that, how do you rumble owners find yourself using pedals, straight to the input or using the effects loop? I honestly never use the effects loop of an amp. Thanks!
I tried two pedals before my Rumble 100 and in the effects loop. The one I am still using sounded best through the effects loop. It's worth the time to try both ways.

I had the R200c for awhile and when I could justify it I used the R210 with it. I tho't together they sounded magnificent. Alone I would have preferred the 210--not because I dislike the 1X15--I just like the perceived tighter sound of the 210 better.
I don't have the R200c anymore. I have the R800 and alone OR with the R210 the sound is AMAZING. But there is NOTHING wrong with the Rumble 1X15--alone or in combination with 2X10.
There are those of us who have a preference for 15's and those for 10's. It's just a matter of taste. They both sound great in their own way.

For what it's worth, here is what I'd call a neutral eq setting for electric guitar with my Rumble 100. I paid no attention to the detents or what we refer to as a "flat setting" here in the Rumble Club. I turned the knobs until my guitar sounded like my guitar with nothing added or subtracted. If you ever plug an electric guitar into your Rumble, you might check these settings out as a place to start.
