Fender Rumble Club

I don't have much to add here on a daily basis, even monthly actually. I currently own a Rumble 100 v3 that I really like, formerly had a Rumble 500 that I had great luck with. My present band formation didn't need the bigger 500 so I sold it down the line.

But I do learn things on this forum. I just spent a ton of time reading through alot of posts/threads about lining the Rumble cabinet and blocking the ports. Very interesting and something I had never thought about before I came across the discussion. I think I might try those things to "tighten" up the tone on my Rumble. I have a day off tomorrow and had already planned on setting up/testing out a new subwoofer for our PA. Rain is predicted so it's a good day for some other adventures in sound. @steve_rolfeca specifically had a ton of info that I read through as well. Thanks for the informative posts.

Great info here, a well run forum. Since I learned here what the "flat" settings actually are that is my starting point at every gig. Rock on!

Shorty, your discussions here since joining The Club have been textbook learning experiences. I've really enjoyed all the participation you've elicited here. Keep up the great work!

Hi from Pflugerville, TX! Here’s my Rumble 800 combo with custom badge. I’ve been using it for a couple of months and I’m really enjoying it. I’m mostly using an 1983 Fullerton AVRI p-bass with La Bella’s and a Noble preamp.

Well, howdy, there, Tex! Pflugerville ain't all that far from Round Rock, is it? @patzilla83, you are now member #1753 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

Hey, I've seen those custom badges! They are very cool! Some of our Rumblers here have broken their original thin plastic badges and could use a replacement. Would you share your source?

While you're at it, how about telling us a bit about yourself, patty, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

Patrick please, if you don’t mind. I’ve been playing bass since 5th grade, in 1994, when I started on double bass in my school orchestra. That summer my mom gave me an electric bass for my 12th birthday and that was it. I played in bands, mostly rock, up until 2014 when I stopped playing shows for a few years after developing crippling stage fright. Now I play live bass for a rap artist in Austin, TX. My main bass is a 1983 Fender AVRI ‘62 Precision with La Bella flats. I plug that into an OC-2, a comp, and a Noble DI, then into the Rumble. I bought the 800 because I needed something loud and clean for the Noble.

I bought the badge on Etsy.

Wow, Patrick! Double bass in the 5th grade?!? My hat's off to you, sir!! That's awesome! :woot: I was 30-something, with 10+ years of bass guitar, before getting within 20 feet of a double bass; and then invited to sit-in!!! Talk about stage fright! But, I just played the bare basics and it was ... Ok. DB wears me flat out, I'm SO spoiled to guitar.

And I have always had some degree of stage fright performing in front of people, no matter how well rehearsed. Even nowadays, if there's more than 3 or 4 others in a jam I get a bit self-conscious, at least. I've come to think of it now as fun-butterflies, and feeling like I give a sub-par performance without 'em (very rarely)!! Guess that's what brings the adrenaline that makes performing so fun! :smug:

Thanks for sharing, Patrick.

To be fair, I’m still not any good at DB.

Thanks, @patzilla83. A link to this post containing a photo of your custom badge, & the source link has been added to the Rumble Club Wiki page in the middle part of the Rumble Modifications section. That's some helpful information that many may want to know, so I hope this captures it for future use.

Thank you, very much, Patrick, for sharing your information.

Hello all, I was ordered, er invited ;D to explain that I bought a Rumble 800 and used it for the first time live last night. So far, I'm digging the warmth and what seems like a bit of tuby compression going on there. My BTB sustained forever last night, which was dominated by lagato notes. But, when a bit of punch was in order, I had plenty. I think it's a keeper.

Cheerio, mizer! @mizedog, you are now member #1754 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

Sorry the Combo Club is moving a bit slow on your membership application. I'm sure the Fearless Leader there will be with you soon.

Meanwhile, how about telling us a bit about yourself, doggie, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

Here's a few videos from the evening, all taken by our audience. I make no apologies for any questionable shapes thrown by the idiot with the MiM P-Bass and the Rumble....

@Miles_ONeal - does this also qualify me for Combo Club membership (R500c in action)? I had no idea that was a thing until I read @G-Dog 's post referencing it.
I'm clearly not lurking around enough....

Yahtzee..... that actually worked. So I used a heat gun just cause I'd bought one last year and need to justify the expense by using it every blue moon. But I'm positive the wife hair drier would've done the trick as well. The grill comes off (velcro) and I just kept the heat moving while constantly checking my progress. I had my hand on the backside of the material so I could gauge how hot it got. It started to shrink almost right away. Not a problem.... just keep the heat moving.

Does that work on waistlines too? My wife's got a hairdryer somewhere I could try...
