Fender Rumble Club

Since @Enrique M 's post was from September 4 -- hey Enrique, did you ever get your problem resolved?

Maybe, at the moment I am going with the idea that the amp shutdown was a properly functioning Rumble 500c going into protection mode from my 1938 houses electric wiring

I have tired to replicate the issue and have not been able to. So, now I keep an eye on that washing machine while I play.

It has a drum. Fire it!

Thought I'd share this idea if anyone finds this useful...

I made a cart/dolly/stand for my Rumble 100. While I can certainly carry it as it's very lightweight, I might need to carry it a long way, and I'll also have other things to carry.

So I made my own cart/stand/dolly storage system. It's a rigid Rubbermaid milk crate style container. I had an old, 4 wheel furniture dolly I cut down to fit the crate. I added a collapsible handle to the back.

The rubber feet of the Rumble 100 just happen to fit tightly and perfectly inside the lip of the crate. There is enough storage area in the crate for the amp's power cord, an extension cord, my small mixer, mic cables, mics, etc. And it also doubles as an onstage amp stand.

I, unfortunately, have to schlep a lot more gear besides the R100: PA(JBL EON ONE), Yamahahaha powered mixer, table for mixer, mic stand, music stand, and duffel full of cables, mics, guitar stand, extension cords, etc. At least 2 trips using one of these from Walmart:

Yeah, my gigs won't need a PA. Just a small powered monitor and my small 4 channel mixer. Just coffee shops, cafe's, etc. Light, easy, low volume gigs where the stage sound alone carries the room.

Cool cart you have though.

The places we play(VFWs, Elks, American Legion, Country Clubs)don't have PA's so we have to bring our own. We haven't had FOH since summer 2015.

Hi Rumble Club- I'm a loooong time lurker first time poster. Firstly I must say thankyou for all the opinions and knowledge I've been quietly syphoning from this group over the years. It has honestly helped me out and I'm very grateful to you all for your help. Apologies in advance for this wall of text.

I've been playing guitar and bass in various bands for well over 25 years based in Western Australia, and sometimes even in other parts of the world when I've been lucky enough to go on tour with my bands.

My bass rigs over the years have consisted of everything from solid state coronets to peavy bandits to music man stacks to vintage bassman rigs but like you all I've gladly stumbled upon rumble stuff and am eternally pleased that I have. Light, sounds great, brilliant gigging rigs. But you all already knew this. I've used the rumbles with great results for bands doing indie rock, sludgy stoner, garage and surf. Big fan of the rumble stuff.

I started off borrowing a mates v3 200c and was pretty amazed. Ended up picking up a v3 500c which kind of blew me away especially after I'd been wrestling with vintage stuff for ages which I could never feel satisfied with either in rehearsals or live. I ended up getting a 210 cab to accompany the 500c and wow that was a great working gig/rehearsal rig. Ended up needing a head to bring to multi band gigs that provided a cab for back line but no heads and decided the rumble 800HD was the go. So I sold on the 500c to a mate, got another 210 and now have a nifty modular rumble 800HD + two 210 cab rig. Pic attached!

As a side note my current rig is great and all but there was something about the 500c + the 210 that was just spot on for me. I can't explain it, but even though the new 800HD is great especially with one or two 210s I can never seem to recapture the magic of that 500c + 210. Anyone else felt this?

Anyway, as to why I'm here- I'm always interested in tinkering and although I'm happy enough with the 800HD and cabs I'm wondering just how far I can push this head. I don't often get the chance to play massive stages but on the odd occasion I want to be able to bust out a mega rig for fun because I can.

So I seem to recall a long time ago someone posting about attaching 4x 210 cabs to a rumble 800HD. Has anyone here actually done that? What was the experience like? I'm fascinated to know!

And the REAL burning question I have is- has anyone here used their rumble 800HD to run a bassman 610 neo? What was it like?! They are both 800w right? Does that mean I could get the full 800w out of my 800HD head with the one speakon into the 610 neo? I'm considering the bassman 610 neo as there is one about an hours drive from me currently. I want to see if anyone here has experience with these two bits of gear before I go get too excited about it.

I'm wondering how the 610 neo might go with my old bassman100 head as well.

And as a final thought I connected my bassman100 head to my 2x rumble 210's yesterday and man that was a cool sounding little rig for bass. But the real surprise for me was that it sounded crazy good as a guitar rig as well.

Please tell me of your experiences with the bassman 610 neo. I think I'm gassing for it pretty hard and need someone sensible to tell me what to do.

Thanks for your knowledge and time everyone.

That first one costs as much as a Rumble 100! I’ve been using a Magna-Cart which folds up really small and is both sturdy & affordable. I carry my pedalboard/case and two R100s (face down) on it with no problem.
I keep looking at this one, but haven't bought anything yet...

First off I made a separate post about this topic on the Amp forum and then I thought about this subforum.

Any way ...

I just tried daisy-chaining my Rumble 100 to my even older Bassman 150. I've tried every option I could by using the effects loop as neither amp has two inputs. All I could get was sound of the one amp that I had my bass plugged into. I had assumed that I would hear the sound from both amps.

So, did I do something wrong but would this link (send from one amp to the return of the other amp) just give me sound out of one amp? If so ... what would be the reason for daisy chaining two combo amps?

What would be the cheapest way to let me play both combo amps as I have a gig coming up in two days? And safe too. Otherwise I will just use one of the two amps ... but that sort of defeats my plan.

Could I use my Corona Chorus pedal that has stereo outputs or something like that? Years ago I used a cheap "Y" splitter ... but I understand now that may rob the amps of some power and may not be safety way to link the amps.
Did you try effects send to the guitar input on the second amp?

Welcome to the Fender Rumble club.

I have been using Mesa Subway gear for a good while and use their heads and 115 cabinets so I have no experience with Rumble cabs. Recently I started playing a gig that has a difficult load in/out and wanted a light weight combo to use. I decided on the Rumble 800/210. I did not really need that much power (the 500 would be plenty) but decided on the 800 because it is equipped with neo speakers and weighs less than the 500. I could not be more happy. This combo has great tone and is easy to move due to its light weight.

Several of us have commented on the fact that Fender offers their 210 cabinet loaded with the heavier ceramic speakers. Many of us would like Fender to offer that cab loaded with the same neo speakers as used in the Rumble 800.

I can't say that I've read anyone feeling that way?!? The R800 HD + 2 R210 cabs should be as close to a R500c + 210 as you can get, soundwise! Can you try to articulate the difference? Or maybe it's just nostalgia for your first really big Rumble rig?

I plead guilty to pushing someone, anyone, to please post a real life pic of a R800 HD with four 8 ohm cabs. But, so far, I have only my awefulsome fotochop skilz to fulfill such fantasies. The 4 x 210s would be great, but the 4 x 410s would be the maximum possible SPL! Since the Rumble 800 HD is 2 ohm stable, it should have no problems pushing four 8 ohm cabs all night long!

Until someone sensible comes along, I'll give you my opinion for free. You are correct, sir! The Rumble 800 HD can put up to 800 clean continuous watts into the 4 ohm, 800-continuous-watt-rated Bassman 610 cab just fine!!! And from many accounts, the BM610 has all the tone and punch of the more massive BM810 cab, but is a bit more maneuverable!! 🤩

That is a Magna-Cart collapsible handle on my DIY cart/dolly/stand. My Magna-Cart's wheels no longer folded in or out, and I almost threw it away. This isn't to say anything bad about the Magna-Cart because it is a great foldable cart I used for many years. But after I took a break from gigging I stored it in a shed and parts got rusty. Entirely my fault.

I've found a few other less expensive brands, but they are rated for 150lbs, not the 200lbs of the Magna Cart.

Home Depot has the Invalid Link Removed for $49.98.

Harbor Freight has Invalid Link Removed for $32.99. I've got many tools and equipment from HF that I've had for up to 20+ years and they are working fine. Maybe not as durable as the major brands, but for occasional use they work fine.

Cheers for your encouragement G-Dog! You talked me into it. I'm going to try out the BM610 with the R800HD this arvo. I'll report back.

So after only the lightest of encouraging I went and tried out my R800HD with a BM610 neo that was for sale locally. I'm glad I did. The sound this head and cab produce is quite something. Super deep, loud and clear with tonnes of headroom. I am very much blown away. The performance of this rig feels like a huge step up from my usual 2x 210s. Whenever I have need of a rig to handle a bigger stage or I want to get fancy I finally feel like I'm covered. I've always wondered how good my old BM100 head could sound given a super quality cab and I'm pleased to report that the results of them paired is also just as pleasing to me.

I have a very important show coming up for me in which I will be providing the bass rig for others to use and this will be the rig I'll take with great confidence.

For 90% of what I do though my current modular 800HD and 210s will continue to be absolutely perfect buuut I'm glad this tank is in reserve if ever needed.

I have a few smaller gigs coming up and quite a few rehearsals also so I'm very keen to try this out in a few different settings and suss it out a bit more.

But if anyone from the future is wondering will a R800HD pair well with a BM610 neo I say hoo yeah go for it.
