Good eye, Jack! "RUMBLE 40-500 V3 CONTROL PCB", indeed!! And, yes, the Variable Speed Fan Control is the only thing on the
R40-500 Block Diagram that says "RUMBLE 500/200 ONLY", so that makes sense, too.
But, it begs the question, where on the
R40-500 Block Diagram does the preamp end, if the Fan Control is on it? And just what all on that diagram would be on the Control PCB. Indeed, might some of the preamp functions be on another PCB, like the "move these ..." in the photos, instead of the Control PCB?
And, assuming the "New Batch" of R100s is more like the
R800c Block Diagram, where does the preamp end on that?
And, according to
one of our Rumble Talks, the 40 & 100 have a class AB power amp & class D power amp, respectively, while the 200 & 500 have class D ICEpower modules. And, according to the manual, the 40 & 100 power amps are only 8 ohm capable, while the 200 & 500 power amps are 4 ohm capable.
But, according to the "
New Batch R100s" addendum, those are "built with an
alternate power supply and amplifier module" that is not specified. So, there's no telling what they are capable of!
Things that make you go "hmmm..."
