I've just ordered another Rumble Stage 800.
I bought one about a year ago and used it for a couple of weeks. I liked it better than the MarkBass 112 combo that I was replacing, but I changed my mind and decided to go with separates. So I returned the Stage to the shop.
Since then I've put together a very nice rig. Genzler Magellan 800 with Bass Array 115 and 210 cabs, a pedalboard with tuner, compressor, OD, preamp. Lots of stuff, and none of it was cheap. It sounds great, don't get me wrong. But, yeah, it's a lot of stuff. My band is going with IEM's and low stage volume now. My last gig, I didn't even get the amp out of the car, I just used my pedalboard. But now I'm thinking I would get a better sound if I could blend my clean DI with a microphone on the amp. So I need to decide which cabinet to bring, if not both. And then I'll need to buy a microphone. Or better yet, get a new preamp pedal that includes cabinet emulation. But I'll need a pre DI too. And I'm thinking of adding chorus, that's another pedal.
OR, I could just go back to what I started with and have all of that in one box that weighs less than either of my cabinets. It has pre- AND post- DI outs that I can run to the mixer. It has all of the effects. It has amp and cabinet modelling. The cover only costs $25. It even has a tuner and a looper, for Pete's sake. And it will leave me with thousands of $ left in my pocket after I sell the other stuff.
I guess it might not sound quite as good as the rig I've got, but I'm not a pro touring bassist. I think Fender has hit a sweet spot in the market with this amp that costs multiples of money to improve upon. At least for someone like me that wants a lot of functionality and doesn't want to have a backpack full of cables and power supplies.
