Fender Rumble Club

... ... ... So...I'm curious if anyone knows a direct link to the frequency range of each of the Rumble tone controls. I'm curious why I can dial back the lows so far and still have such a full sound. ... ... EDIT: Found this online...

According to Fender's specifications, the Fender Rumble 100 tone controls generally affect the following frequencies:

Bass around 80Hz, Low-Mid around 280Hz, High-Mid around 1.2kHz, and Treble around 10kHz; with the "Contour" function also manipulating midrange frequencies by cutting around 670Hz while boosting slightly at lower and higher frequencies.

... ... ...

You found the EQ frequency centers, not the ranges.

Check the club wikis. I’m pretty sure there are some useful graphs.

Righty-O, Miley-O! The the Fender Rumble 500 (&40) Frequencies wiki, to be exact. 😉

It has the Fender Rumble Published Frequency Spec.s taken from the manual, for one. (Click the small graphic to make it legible.)

Of course, it's got the "Flat" (all 12 o'clock) tone curve compared to the Actual Flat (10-2-2-10) curve for the Rumble 500. And it's got a few different setting curves for the Rumble 40.

And the direct link to frequency ranges for each EQ tone control is the Rumble 500 Minimum & Maximum Tone Controls graphs. (Again, click the graphic to read it better.) It shows the centers you mentioned PLUS the range curves, AND the tone descriptions used in the graphic & video in the wiki FOREWORD! 👍

And, finally, there's curves for the 3 voicing buttons and the Overdrive!

Enjoy, Mittle! 🤗

While I typically practice/write/record in my living room using headphones..,

Sometimes I take out the full dual Rumble 100 rig so I can FEEL it.

200 watts? No way. But yes...it is THAT loud and clear.

Fun measurements time!
Did put a power meter b4 my r100c. (240V version)
From the wall
Idle it uses 10-11Watts
Most of the time playing it at reasonable volumes it goes up to 15Watt-ish
Playing uncomfortably loud, bit distorted on low notes 26Watts peak

Note that I got no clue what's the polling rate of the power meter tough, so there could be higher spikes.

Hey fellow Rumblers, I have an Eminence Basslite S2012, never taken out of the box, that I purchased to put in my Rumble 100 combo. I decided to leave the combo stock so maybe someone is looking for an S2012. There have been reports of good results with this driver swap.

So bad those are expensive AF in Europe :/ I was just GASing today again, but didn't buy one for 45% of the price of a brand new r100 :( Maybe once...

Got my old Rumble 40 studio from storage today, and it has a weird problem. The speaker doesnt work at first, but after 5-10min the sound comes through. The headphones out works fine all the time. The sound is a bit unstable even after 10min. but no sound at first. Any ideas to what i can do. Its out of warranty, so either i fix it or it goes to the trash :(

My extended family owns a pawn shop and they have a new v1 Rumble 4x10 that I can get for a reasonable price. What does the hive mind here think about these cabs? I have found the specs but they only tell half of the story. I would be buying this to leave at a small rehearsal space because I’m lazy and I don’t like leaving my super nice cabs, so stage performance and weight are not necessarily an issue.

Nothing weird inside. Looks totally clean. No loose wires (or rodents). The storage has been dry and with relativity constant temperature. It worked fine 8 months ago.

Try running a patch or instrument cable from FX Send to FX return. Unplug/plug each end several times.
Was this climate-controlled storage? If now, what's the climate there and how long was the amp in storage?

Howdy, mica! @micapost, you are now member #1816 in the TalkBass Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome to The Club in particular and to TalkBass in general. Please put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

mic, you've come to the right place! First, be sure your Studio's wi-fi is turned off, 'cause it interferes with normal operation, especially if using Bluetooth, too! Next, do not attempt to run Bluetooth streaming and the TONE App at the same time, 'cause BT is a one-at-a-timr trick pony, nit both at once. Finally, turn off the amp before the TONE App to reduce audio dropouts. These, and many other helpful items, are linked in the Fender TONE App Support section of your Rumble Wiki.

And please, mica, for further questions and discussions of Rumble Studio stuff please our special Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 sub-thread in order to keep this main Club thread less complicated. But, any general Rumble stuff is still welcome here. It will be appreciated.

So, micy, how about telling us a bit about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You're bound to fit right in here, since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

a. There was/is no Rumble V1 410 cab. All the V1s (2003-2010) were combos, covered in fur with rubber corners.
2. The Rumble V2 (2010-2014) 410 is a 4 ohm cab, with tolex covering and chrome corners. This impedance makes it unsuitable to use as an extension for most Rumble combos (except the Rumble v3 800 combo and Rumble Stage 800 combo).
‰. IIRC, it's rated for 500 watts continuous, 1000 watts program, like the 8 ohm V3 410. So, it is a substantial piece of equipment when in good working order.
&. Be sure to check that it has the appropriate matched speakers in it, then try it out for actual functioning, including horn switch settings

Any specifics you are looking to find out about it?

Please let us know how it tests out and what you think about it!. If you get it we'd be happy to induct you as a new member of The Club!

You nailed it! Thanks a lot of the info! The other specifics I have found in my searches.

My experience with the Rumble lineup is the 2x8 and 12 stack which I liked a lot. This cab is “new” but has been collecting dust in a pawn shop for years. I will give it a test, make him a ridiculous offer, and see what happens.

I appreciate your advice!

I am purchasing a used Fender LT25 and would love to have any of this group's insight into any pitfalls or best ways to use this little practice amp.
Thank you,
Andrew

Hey-oh! @Andrew 1976 Ibanez 2353, you are now member #1818 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Please put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

Your Rumble LT25 is a very versatile tone chameleon! However, compared to my experience with the Rumble Studio 40, I believe it's not as easy to use (though I could be wrong here). It seems to require a PC or Mac to upgrade firmware and manage presets without any wifi or Bluetooth facilities. I hope you've read thru the Rumble LT25 manual to see how it works. It doesn't have many outputs for recording or sound reinforcement. But I can see how it could be fun for practice with the different modeling voices, thus encouraging more practice which, I believe, is the whole point! 🤗

That said, let me commend any questions and discussions your heart desires of this modeling amp to your Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 sub-thread, please, in order to keep this main Club thread less complicated, OK? It has mostly Stage & Studio users there, but some LT25 users, as well. 😉

So, how about telling us a bit about yourself, Andy, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...
