I really, really would like to find a 200c to put under my 800 as a 15" cab... I wish they made a 15" cab that matched identically to the 800 2x10 combo....

You could Daisy Chain the 500 to the 200. (or vice versa)
I haven't tried it yet, but I do believe, (if the 500 is your primary or has bass connected to it) you can 'SEND' from the 500 to the 200 "Input" or 'RETURN'. I think 500 SEND to the 200 RETURN would retain the 500's Preamp sound config, basically using the 200 poweramp for its 15" with the preamp of the 500.
(BASS GUITAR ~~~~~> 500 Input > then 500 SEND to ~~~~~~> 200 RETURN

I'm sure there are other ways to do this but after a ton of brainstorming I think this would be the best bet.
Now... if you wanted to independently shape the sound of the 15"/200 then SEND 500 to the Input of the 200 then eq the 200 accordingly.

Sir Nardley, you should post all your disquistingual variable and sunny combos in the TalkBass Combo Club! Of course, their are quite a few Rumble combos there, but also lots of other brands and baubels, and even some things what don't even kinda look like combos, but whatever. Rumbler #1158 here, @Miles_ONeal is also Combo-ite #216 there and Master & Commander, too! He'll tell you whose on first and watts wear.​

Not that sad-I still have my R40 and R100. The 100 gets the most use. I had only used the 200c once in the past year and it was overkill on that gig. It's a 2015 and looks new.

Just put my 200c on consignment. I just don't use/need it anymore.

You are correct in the case of a R500c, sir. But, hank has a R800c, which has a different block diagram from the R500c with the Master control downstream of the FX Loop! So, SENDing from the 800 will work normally, but RETURNing to the 200 has no volume control in the circuit and therefore, I believe, the R200c will always run wide open!​

Indeed, there are other, better, ways! So, I'd recommend SENDing from the R200c and RETURNing to the R800c and the Master on both combos can work, somewhat. The R200c will function completely normally, and the R800c will receive and amplify the R200c preamp signal (it's own preamp being bypassed). But the Master on the R800c can only work within the level it receives from the R200c!​

Totally, YES, you can SEND either combo's preamp signal to the INPUT of the other combo (there is no risk of damage)! Just reduce the Gain and EQ of whichever one is getting the other's preamp signal in it's INPUT so as not to overdrive the already preamped tone.​

• Have they addressed the DI post-master volume issue in the current model?
• How does the sonic character compare with the Rumble 100? I found that one could be a bit muddy depending on the room.
• Does the tweeter hiss? How is the fan noise?

The 800 combo has a pre/post switch on the back for when you’re going direct. Finally!

I purchased a Rumble 800 combo a year ago, but foolishly returned it within 30 days, thinking it wouldn’t be right for me.

In the meantime, a purchased a used Rumble 500 head, with a new Rumble 2X10 cabinet. I like the sound, but now realize, the combo would have been perfect! What’s not to like;

29 pounds

Neodymium speakers, which I thought sounded great.

A switch to lower the power down. You may not need it, but I believe it offers flexibility.

So, I’m looking to get rid of the head, keep the cabinet, and get another combo. Along with my Rumble 100, it would give me three levels of firepower. 100 watts, 400 watts, all the way to 800 watts, in easy to move amps.

I’ll keep everyone informed as to how it goes! The head is up for sale, along with a Traynor SB112 combo. Nothing wrong with the Traynor, I’ve just always liked Fender amps.

Yes, on the R800c the XLR Out is no longer affected by the Master volume, and it has a Pre/Post switch. How's that for addressing a non-problem that some people still moan about?​

• How does the sonic character compare with the Rumble 100? I found that one could be a bit muddy depending on the room.

A. The Rumble 100 has no internal acoustic lining for tone taming like the 200, 500 & 800 do, unless you added it yourself. So, it sometimes needs a little something, like a sock in the port, or such, according to taste.​

2. The R800c has Neo speakers that, purportedly, sound clearer or brighter than all the other Rumbles' ceramic ferrite speakers.​

iii. You need to sound test it for yourself to see if it's agreeable to you.​

• Does the tweeter hiss? How is the fan noise?

The tweeter should not hiss. And most Rumblers who have fans have never heard them! Of course, there are occasionally a few individual exceptions to every perceptual consideration on such things. So, again, sound test them for yourself to determine your own perception.​

I read that you ordered an 800c...good choice! I have the 100c and the 800c and previously owned the 500c.

The 800c to my ears is definitely clearer and cleaner than the other Rumbles (nothing wrong with the others, just a different voice). I have never heard tweeter hiss or the fan. Mine weighs only 28 pounds, and for me covers everything from quiet bedroom practice to mid-sized shows with no PA support. Good luck!

A tweeter never hisses. It reproduced what it is fed. So if an amp hisses the tweeter will reproduce this.

I have a 500C, do I need to clean the fan? I bought it second hand. The guy I got it from says he barely used it but I'm not blind. It's even missing one corner protector and the Fender logo has a falling F.

Anyway, should I open it up and clean the fan? Or have any of you did it? I don't want to do it of course if it doesn't matter. TIA!!
