Hey gang - I just picked up a rumble 210 combo and 210 cab. Having a lot of trouble with the low end and interested in some experience (not so much your opinion - no offense) of taming it. I'm really digging the tone of the combo by itself although still find it booming (in all rooms) but usable. With the 210 extension cab its a total mess. Cannot dial the boom out without taking the life out of the tone.
I've tried:
cutting bass (and low mids) boosting mids, contour switches etc etc.
For context:
I use a fender P and Sandberg J, passives with rounds. I sometimes run the sansamp V2 into the combo for one of my bands - sounds way better but still boomy AF.
My other rig is a genzler kinetix and berg 212. I'm no newby to tone and rigs (played GK/Ampeg/Aggie).
I'm interested if others have noticed extra low end from the extension cab or do I just maybe have an issue with mine? Again, I like the sound of the combo by itself. but with the 210 on the bottom its horrible. I have also stacked them on a crate to decouple from the floor - doesnt help much at all.
I have also considered that it might be the 410 nature, as I am so used to 12s - been rocking a 212 setup in various ways for years now. Maybe I just miss the mid punch of 12s.
Yes I realise this is a cheap rig compared to my other one, but I love the easy load-ins/out and the look of the vertical stack. After years of playing I also don't care too much about stage quality sound but more about whats out front so I use a preamp for FOH. No I'm not interested in IEMs.
I might try a HPF if someone has found that to work? Otherwise the rumbles might not be for me sadly. I would still keep the combo as its great for easy rehearsals.
Thanks and sorry for the long winded post.
