Fender Rumble Club

Just a heads up, I took the 500 and 210 out for a spin this weekend, so I slipped the MDB covers on the 500 for I figure the 5th or 6th time, and the cover on the 210 for the first time.

FAIL...

The fabric on the 210 cover failed at the bottom right at the end. I was tugging lightly to slide it down the cab when it ripped.

I have had the covers less than 3 weeks. I sent an email to MDB to see what they would do, if anything to stand behind their products.

The tear is pretty clean, it honestly looks like a simple fabric failure. I will post up pics tonight to show you what it looks like.

This thing simply should NOT have failed on the first use. I wasn't applying excess force or anything, simply pulling it down the cab.

Hey folks. Been rumble reading til I'm crosseyed so please be gentle.

I've been wanting to redo an old 215 cab but for what it's going to cost I can almost buy a rumble 500 combo. Question is, if I get one, what is going to be the best sounding extension cab to go with it? I keep reading that the 210 would be the ticket, then someone pops in and says the 115 is the shiznit. I'm just looking for a lot of thud but I don't want to drop 5K for the bassman T series stuff. I do want to try a full fender rig though and this seemed like a fairly painless way to try it on.

Also, there is a local sale on a 500 rumble combo but i don't which V it is. How much difference is there, or should I just focus on the V3?

Thanks for any and all. It's most appreciated.

The 500 combo + 210 cab will apply the low notes with extreme prejudice. Some guys haven't liked the 210 underneath and gone with the 115, others didn't like the 115 and swapped out to a 210... I love my Rumble V3 500 combo / V3 210 Cab Stack O Doom as it is...

Yes, please let us know how MDB treats their customers. My guess is they are going to be a stand up company.

I will forever badmouth TC Electronics for not standing behind their two week old brand new with warrantee Chorus pedal years ago. The worst customer service issue of my life.

Yeah, MDB doesn't list any sort of warranty on their covers on the site. And there is no contact phone #. I somewhat suspect MDB is a one man operation and a side gig at that... I just hope he will stand behind this thing. I don't think it is a design or MFG thing on his part, I think he had some bad material that ended up on my cover... If he doesn't stand up to it. I know I can get it fixed locally on the cheap. But I shouldn't have to... Good thing is it is on the back side of the cover, so a patch sewn over the bad spot doesn't really matter...

Don't get me wrong, I fully expect Mike to stand behind his product. He seems like a pretty decent customer focused kind of guy, I seriously doubt he is going to leave me holding the bag, in this case almost literally...

Thought I might get lucky today, but I'd waited too long to go back. Guy still has the 500 combo, he's just no longer in need of the bass he wanted to trade me out of a while back. Oh well, off the couch and into the fray. Time to do a little this and that and snag up that amp before it gets away.
Oh and BTW, that's a nice color on your bass. It it metallic?

Yeah. Burgundy Mist Metallic.

As promised, pics of the failure. I took a closer look at it tonight, looks like he stopped the reinforcing seam too soon...

I will keep you guys posted as to what his response is... I got no reply today, but then again, it is the Monday following a long holiday weekend during the summer, and MDB is obviously a very small most likely one man operation.... So I will cut him some slack and give him ample time to finish up his vacation or what not and get back to me...

I'm in. The 100 combo fits the bill perfectly for my instrumental surf exotica group. The 12" seems to be right in the sweet spot for both power and portability. Not a problem getting this in and out of my four story walkup apt! Even brought it home from the store on the subway, one handed. Rehearsal with vibraphones, guitar, and drums it had plenty of volume to spare.

I'll echo other reviews that it is voiced slightly bass-heavy, (boomy) and still figuring out how best to work the controls. Very nice that it has 4 band EQ. Otherwise warm, smooth and clear. I look forward to gigging with it.

What's this ? Page 325 ! and I know why :)
Had my Combo since September last year now and gigged this thing hard out ever since.
It's my main rig now and hardly seem to use my genz 900w head and quad any more.
I gave up even yearning for a matching extension speaker for the rumble.
Have I gone mad ? I really don't know !
What I do know is I have punished and abused this combo as much as I can and it still keeps amazing me at all venues .

Even more amazing is the only damage so far is the wrap lifting in the pic,and I am not complaining as it's what happens to my gear,I call it normal "wear and tear".
Would have thought I might have fried a speaker, broken off the exposed white dials, lost a rubber foot, punctured the grill or something worse than this. Well done fender.

That is a great report on the durability of the Rumbles. My 100 and 200 should probably last a lifetime. The old Rumbles had a great track record also. The Rumble Club is certainly not a place where me meet and discuss all the Rumble failures. From the smallest bedroom Rumble to the largest stage Rumble, we seem to be a group of very satisfied bass amp owners.

It looks like a little glue would hold that down and you are good to go. I like to use the fabric glue they sell in craft stores because it cures just fast enough so you can apply it, press it down, and you are done.

FWIW, I love hearing about how well it is holding up. If you can find a way to reattach the covering solidly, take care of the small details while they are small details, and the big ones are that much further down the road.

I've used my 500 combo with the 112 and the 112 is not lost in the mix of that combination. In fact, I bought a single 112 cab to go with the combo, and it was that very combination which made my decision to get another 112, I liked it so much. So I could definitely hear what it was doing amid the thunder of the 210.

I have had my 500 combo for about a month and love it. My 112 cab just arrived in time for a big outdoor gig this weekend. Glad to hear some positive response with pairing the 500 with the 112. I also felt the 210 cab would be a bit more than I would ever need. I have to say they stack up perfect as they are the same dimension and has that vintage Fender look. Rumble on.
