Fender Rumble Club

Looking at Rumble 500w head with 4x10 rumble cab or something similar, anyone else had any experience with this set up. Would also think about adding a 15 cab down the road a bit. The ohm rating are very confusing, just when I think I understand it, another configuration comes along & fogs the mind...

Possessed Rumble 100 v3!

I had my v3 Rumble 100 powered-off, but plugged-into an AC power strip in my rehearsal space.

I had a much larger current-drawing amp cranking in the same power strip, and to my surprise and horror, the Rumble 100's red pilot light would flash on and off with the current surges of the other amp.

What an excellent day for an exorcism! :roflmao:

Cheers!

When I originally posted this, little did I realize that the situation would progress even further.

The power light and other LEDs on my possessed Rumble 100 V3 now pulsate and glow even without the IEC power cable attached!

All exorcisms have now been cancelled however, as I have identified the scientific cause of this phenomenon.

When the Rumble is in near-proximity to another cranking bass cabinet, the Rumble's internal speaker picks-up the neighboring vibrations and in-turn creates a small current back into its own electronics, causing the LEDs to light when enough current is achieved. I am guessing this feature is common to all V3 Rumbles.

To recreate this at home with your Rumble, unplug its power cable and place the Rumble near and/or facing another bass cabinet. Play and crank through this other bass cabinet and watch in disbelief as your Rumble cries REDRUM! :D

Been a while. Had to go through 500+ catch up posts, I am afraid to look at myy data usage.

Some unmentioned old stuff (my rumble 200 was the first bass amp I ever experienced feedback with, and the horn was off. I never mentioned it because it wasn't a big deal).

A short notice opportunity to audition for a rhythm guitar spot had me using the 200 combo with a boogie 112 open back on top, and my vox vt40+ headphone out feeding into the aux in of the rumble, which was acting as a powered speaker. Why vox didn't put an actual line out or ext speakerjack Iis beyond me. It sounded great though somebody likely younger and better looking with money to chip in got the spot. It also could have been the bad impression left by the fact that my rig was picking up talk radio REALLY loud, distractingly so between songs. I plugged directly into the rumble and it was still there, so it must be a class d interference thing.

The reason I have not been on tb in a while was due to obsession with acquiring a guitar amp to go with my boogie cabinet so I could seriously go for guitar again as well as bass. Smash and grab! A cholo and his chola from the lbc busted my back window and grabbed the $400 boogie cab (I witnessed it, broad daylight) so that changed my plans and I downgraded my plans to a $250 peavey valveking 50w combo and $85 scratch and dent peavey 112 from ams. I had to sell my ampeg micro cl and bugera v5 to do that along with leftover cash from sale of my stratacoustic. But now I have a decent guitar rig, and definitely not planning to sell my rumble 200, though I no longer have that 210 to pair it with.

The band I was in dissolved and got back together with a new drummer and bass player, but I am going to try for the still vacant 2nd guitar spot.

My repair pile of fender super 60 head, fender m80 combo and swr workingman 10 has been turned into a fixed m80 and workingman in trade for the super 60, so the m80 will be guitar backup and the wm10 plus 110 made the ampeg micro a bit redundant and easy to part with. The m80 needed just about every component replaced so I got a good deal! The swr just needed the power amp chip as expected.

And yes my rumble 200 has started to get the pot scratch, but the peavey tube amp has it even worse. I can live with that. The rumble is still the lightest piece, even the 1x10 cab is heavier or at least the same weight (though the peavey 112 cab is light too)

Now I just have to find another band to play bass with! And hope it works out with the other band on guitar. I would hate to have gone through all that only to not be able to use the gear at all.

And need another 8 ohm 2x10 cab. Might have an old swr wm210 on hold for a stupid cheap price to replace what was sold in the ampeg mini rig. My goliath jr II is not a good match for rumble at 16 ohms (rewired from orig 4 ohm config). Also to pair with the jr for a 5.3 or 2.6 ohm 2x2-10 rig to use with my bass 350.

Combining gas with cdo (letters in order) on fixed income requires creativity sacrifice and craigslist. I will be done once I get suitable 210. Then I just have to sell my whammy and ce2 so I can buy a watertender 9.4 or similar to go with my tohatsu 3.5 and spend the el nino summer at "the wall" for 1 gallon of gas a day. Bass and other types of bass, fender Warwick, calico, sand, spotted, maybe the white sea variety. Or the one with teeth from the heart song.

And not to mention spiny lobster and various crabs.

Hi yeh thnx, get that, but where I come unstuck is if I mix cabinets ie a 4 & an 8 ohm, gives me 2.67 ohms & wont work with a 4 ohm amp, hence my confusion in which set up do I get
No, you are not confused at all. What you have said is correct. Don't mix ohms. Most modern heads are 4 ohm minimum rated. So one 4 ohm cab only, or two 8 ohm cabs. Rumble 200 and 500 heads will run quite happily at 8 ohms with one V3 Rumble cabinet. The Rumble 500 head with a single Rumble 410 is more than enough.

Thnx for that, if I add a 15" cab at a later date will the 500w head cope??

So the Rumble V3 100 and 500 combo covers I ordered from Invalid Link Removed arrived today (see the pics).
The 100 cover has the default felt padding (AmpGuard), the 500 has the optional 5 mm foam padding & cloth (FoamGuard, last 3 pictures).

The covers have a quality look and feel to them and they fit well (the 500 a little tighter than the 100).
Not cheap (at GBP 101 including shipping and 21% Dutch VAT) but I trust they will protect my Rumbles well.
And you can order the covers very customizably, they don't keep stock and are built when you order. Pretty cool, but it also raises the price.
I also ordered the 210 cab cover to have a complete set.

Reminder for EU customers: the prices are without VAT, it will be added at checkout.
