Fender Rumble Club

Snobbery = the haves can never understand the have nots.

If you think it is bad on talk bass try some of the astronomy forums.

Any interest requiring equipment of some sort is going to have that.

The worst are the old money (dad's money) guys who jump right in and buy the most expensive gear because they can (and it is always a carbon copy of what the forum bigwigs have) and have no idea how to use it.

Source: served 5 years time in international sales at a leading telescope/ccd camera dealer, after being active on the leading forum for quite sone time.

But with all those quirks, the one that annoys me most is this non mixing schism here on this site. I still swear by my 1998 swr 115+410 stack, and when I let that be known on a new thread, the more militant anti mixers watch me like a hawk for one piece of information they can disprove, and then light me up with non friendly corrections in a very belittling tone. Some of which have known non snob approved brands right in their names

Nearing 500 members my #295 makes me feel like old salt.

I did some math, assuming the 200 is around 180w at 5.3 ohms, 120w would go to the 15 and 60 to the 210. Considering the 210 sounded good with the wm10 taking approx 30w with the combo taking approx 60w, and also sounding good with a 5w valve jr, it would do much more than just be an amp stand. First time I would purposely put a 15 over 10's but I might try the rumble on its side with the 210 on top like I did with the ampeg cab.

Just gotta set up a chance to use it first

The cover (from Amplifiercoversonline.com) for my Rumble 210 cab arrived today, here some pictures:

As the other 2 covers, it looks and feels great and fits like a glove.
Should protect my Rumbles for years to come.

Here's the happy family together (500 Combo, 210 cab, 100 combo):

The covers are great, and highly customizable, although not very cheap, counting in taxes and shipping. But I guess you get what you pay for.

btw: any idea why Fender chose to use a carry strap on top of the 500 combo and 2 side handles on the 210 cab?
They are the same size and almost the same weight.

I imagine it's because they wanted the 500 to be able to sit on top of the 210.

They probably used the side handles on the 210 Cab to keep the top clear for stacking of other cabs, or combos on it's top. The 500 Combo will usually be stacked on top of a cab, like an amp head would be. Two Rumble 210 Cabs would be a great stack, with a Rumble 500 Head.

Or for $100 more both 210s become 410s. I don't think the 210s have more expensive drivers, and certainly use less wood, grille cloth and vinyl than the 410s. That pricing never made sense to me, like fender either wanted to tax those with small cars, cramped stages, or just wanting to match the form factor of the combos. Great products, funky pricing. But the real reason is probably "because they can" due to the popularity of the 200 and 500 combos. That 112 is still tempting, but I am broke as a joke and the only cash I have is likely going to pay geddy lee in a couple weeks. Priorities right? (I have 4 swr cabs and rush might be retiring)

Dig the covers, might have to get a couple of those :)

Another cover option if I could suggest, is the MDB Covers. I have a set for my Rumble 500 and 210 stack. I had a problem with the 210 cover and Mike took care of me with no problems whatsoever. If service is important to you, give MDB a shot, they really did me right..

They fit great, provide the abrasion resistance you need, and I agree with MDB on the padding thing. Thin padding that costs a bundle extra in other covers, sin't going to protect from being bashed into, you need a road case for that...

That light color trim on the covers looks really nice.

Yes, I like it as well, there are several colors to chose from.

Those MDB covers look nice as well. It might me a better / cheaper option if you're in the USA.
Ordering from the USA gets pretty expensive for us Europeans, adding in shipping, VAT, customs and the unfavorable exchange rate (although the same goes for the UK),

I totally get where you are coming from. Snobbery is near the top of my pet peeve list, whether it’s gear snobbery or any other kind. Looking down on someone because of a preference is infuriating, and I take special pleasure in making snobs squirm.
After going through plenty of expensive kit over the years, I currently run a Chinese Jag, Rumble head, self built cabs, Joyo overdrive and zoom multi, I'm convinced this setup sounds better with the lights off.:D

I am backing off on my issues with the 210/410 pricing, the 410 does have lower powered drivers in it afterall. 500/1000 vs 350/700 for 210.

Now the 112 vs 115 at the same price I still have issues with haha. I don't own any 12" bass cabs, so if I was in a position to buy I would consider one.

The eden d112xst looks pretty interesting too, but probably mega bucks. The d410xlt I sold a few years back for $400ish is currently $1099 new. Also pretty much a 100lb cab. Their 112xst is in the high 30's, I did not bother to check prices. My trusty swrs still work fine and always gave me joy.

And that little 1x10 pairs up nice with the rumble200 combo, but not cosmetically. Ends up being like running a triad cab but better

Swr workingmans 15 was the rumble 200 of the 90s and early 2000's. Not lightweight though. But before fender usurped swr to remove that competion, we were talking about solid all usa construction and top notch discrete preamps and components. It is a shame that line has been broken.

The rumble fills that niche at an even lower price point, but being an older guy now, the weight is one of the best features. But you will have to pry my workingmans 10 or bass350 from my cold dead fingers.
