Wow a 25w, fender can't make any money in that church.I brought the wrong amp. Last Sunday I agreed to play for a special mass at a guitar player friend's church. I went on line and saw the cathedral was very large, so I decided I should take the 500 instead of the 25. I didn't think it would do it. For the bass, I took my Mike Kelly Dragonfly fretless V because both guitars were acoustic.
We got set up to do a run through of the songs for the service and when I turn on my amp it howled like crazy. I had to set the gain to about 7 1/2 and the volume about the same. I also had to run the bass volume at about 50%. It was plenty loud. I could have easily done it with the 25. And it would have been much easier lugging it up to the choir loft.
Great acoustics in that room. We didn't mike anything.
And don't forget about the XLR out, it could prove handy at times. Thanks much, I will flip through the previous dozen pages or so. Apologies for being late to the party and re-asking previously-asked questions. There is a lot of information in this mega-thread to take in all at once.![]()
I have played out with my 25. It was also an acoustic gig in another church's hall. We had 2 guitars and a cajon, all miced except me. It was a low volume gig, but the 25 was plenty. I had the volume at about 2.Wow a 25w, fender can't make any money in that church..
Don't have the 500, but on the 40 and 100 I can definitely tell if I adjust it any. Tone knob on bass down all the way maybe?I turned up the treble a bit. I didn't notice any boost so I turned it up more... still nothing.
You should be able to discern a difference. If you bought it from the store, even if it is an open box, it should be under warranty. Take it back and have them look at it.I tried it it with all other tone controls rolled off, set flat etc.... nothing. And with all the other controls rolled off the treble output and frequency is the same whether turned up 100% or rolled off completely.

I don't think I did any kind of formal review. So here it is!@Linnin - I'm wondering if you wrote a report on your 112s when you got them? I've had a skip through without any luck so far. I'm interested after stumbling across the V2 2x8 cab a little while ago. The V2 112 maybe a good economic choice if I can ever spy one 2nd hand.![]()

Take it back. The treble control is + or - 15dB @10kHz. The 'Bright' button is an instant +10dB boost @10kHz. A 10dB increase is twice as loud. ie: 110dB is twice as loud as 100dB. I've never heard of a Rumble being defective in this manner, but anything is possible. Also what bass are you playing? Standard or drop tuned? Tone off?OK. I just tried with my headphones. With the other EQ controls rolled off completely and the treble turned up 100% the output and tone are "exactly the same" as the treble rolled off completely. Also, the bright switch has zero effect either engaged or not when testing....... something is wrong for sure.![]()
If the store won't take it back and exchange it for a brand new in factory sealed box unit, then stop doing business with that store and file a formal complaint with Fender. Otherwise, yes, you will have to get a return authorization for your nearest Fender Authorized Service Center and send it there for repair under warranty.Fender P Bass, standard tuning, tone knob on the bass rolled off, rolled up all the way up, tried everything. I have not heard of this issue from anyone else either. Just dumb luck with this particular head I guess. Looks like I'll have to send it off for repair. I wonder if I should open it up just to see if there is a wire that hanging loose somewhere or a capacitor with a swollen top.... or would just taking a peek void my warranty?
I Agree the rumble line up is louder than advertised wattage ratings.I have played out with my 25. It was also an acoustic gig in another church's hall. We had 2 guitars and a cajon, all miced except me. It was a low volume gig, but the 25 was plenty. I had the volume at about 2.
Have you noticed how load rumbles are for their size?
Yes they are! Plus many other companies just make up a wattage rating or use a maximum 'burst' power rating. Fender is honest in their ratings of clean continuous power which is measured at both 100Hz & 1,000Hz and at both 8 ohms & 4 ohms. Fender doesn't publish maximum program or peak power.I Agree the rumble line up is louder than advertised wattage ratings.
That's why I have 3 Fender basses, 2 Fender amps, 2 Fender hats, 1 Fender T-Shirt, and a Fender 50th Anniversary barstool. Fender is a straight up company.Yes they are!
