Fender Rumble Club

Yikes! :jawdrop: Dreadfully sorry to hear that. I started playing righty in 1970. Switched to lefty in 1976.

Can you play both righty and lefty, now? The guitar player in one of my bands is left-handed, but taught himself to play righty. Then, around the mid-90's, he decided to take lessons and learn how to play lefty. By the early 2000's, he was (and still is) totally ambidextrous, and can play any style either righty or lefty.

Why did you switch?
It was unnatural, and just didn't feel right. I traded in my '72 Precision and '69 Kustom 200 rig (2x15) in mid 1975. Got my new lefty Precision in spring of 1976. That's right! In those days you had to pay in advance and order sight unseen and just hope for the best. Mine arrived with the frets chewed up and very rough. Not just ends but both the leading trailing edges. So it needed a fret dressing and recrowning and polishing right out of the box. Did CBS Fender cover it under warranty? Oh Hell No! Nine years later the original factory split single coil pickup died silently in my sleep on night. It was fine yesterday, but dead today. That's when I hot rodded the beast to suit me. I still have it today and just played it an hour ago.

I play as well right handed as anyone that played for 5 years and then quit for 40 years and just picked it up again this afternoon. Louie Louie at it's teen-aged finest!
