It's not surprising at all. The 115 configuration has more speaker area and volume than a 210 configuration does, and the 15" driver is quite a bit more efficient than the 10" driver, even with two of them effectively doubling their efficiency.

All things being equal, the amp head feeding the 115 cab will be louder and more powerful than the same amp going into the 210 cab.

That's the reason why the Rumble 200 combo (1x15") and the Rumble 500 combo (2x10") are about the same volume with the internal speaker. The amp wattage is balanced out by the speaker difference.

Struggling to decide which extension cab to get. I have the 200c. First upgrade is the extension. Then trading the combo for the 500 head.

After reading yoir experience I'm goong with the 15. Then later a second extension. Probably the 210 for variety.

I never really looked at these cabs. Kinda wish I had now. I like how they are set up to stand up or lay flat. I'm toying with idea of modding my Rumble 210 cab to that. Easy enough mod, just add feet on the side.

I am thinking it would be great to add another 210 that can be laid flat and stacked to accommodate a larger head, like the Bassman 500, and have that 410 punch and all the 500watts pumping. Or have them stacked normal to get vertical going for the Rumble 500 head or other smaller heads.

I like options and flexibility!

The easiest way to do this is to just remove some screws that hold the corners into the cabinet, put feet through them, put them back into the corner. That way, no drilling!

You'll need longer screws. The corners on my Rumble 40, I just investigated them, and it looks like they could take a #8 screw, but I'd feel safer sticking with a #6 screw.

I find this strange. I was able to demo the 500C and the 200C against one another with my band present--in the same room. Everyone agreed the 500C blew the 200C away in presence and volume. Hence--I own the 500C

Perhaps the 200C I tried had an issue?

Quick update...got the 500 head today, gave it a quick run with the 115 cab earlier.

All I can say is - wow! It's a monster. When I A/B'd it against the 500 cab, it sounds very different indeed....loads more presence, bottom, and a real vintage crunch - loads od power.

It made the 500 combo sound quite tame in comparison!

We're gig-free this weekend, but have one next week, and two the week after - so it'll be getting some serious stick.

Early days, but just from a home demo, I can't see me needing an extra cab for what we do. I tried identical EQ'ing with both head and combo, and the 115 seemed more powerful. Maybe it's me imagining it!

This is interesting as I'm shopping, so is there any plussses you see to the 210 over the 115, or would you go 115 all the way.

I like a somewhat middy sound, but still want the lows. How would you compare them in that respect?

It might be that in the frequencies you like, the 500C has more of it than the 200C, which can get kind of boomy. I personally think both amps are pretty boomy sounding (or are they full of rumble).

I personally love, love, love the TC K series cabs they've recently released. I love my K210s and they're only $399 a pop.

I'd say the 210 has definitely more mid - but being a Ricky 4001 player, I've already got mids galore!

That was one of my reasons for using the 115 cab with head - go for a more 'balanced' sound.

....plus I've never had a head/cab set-up before - nice to get away from years of combos!

After much consideration about whether to go for a 115 or 210... I went with the 210. Ordered today, comes Monday. I really liked the idea of the 115 but the symmetrical-ness of having 2 x 210 made me go that way. Looking forward to this!

So many choices!!! It really is awesome to have so many choices.

Could be my bass sounds better on the 500 as opposed to the 200 as well.

At any rate--it is great for post hardcore/metal shows without PA support!

Mine sure don't. I have always held that 15's have broader & smoother dispersion of the entire bass midrange than any other woofer. With Low Mids starting about 180Hz and High Mids meeting the Low Highs around 1,300Hz.

You are going to be happy anyway you go--as long as you rumble.

My needs are for being VERY loud. The 500C and an extension possibility sealed my deal. However--I haven't found a need for the extension. The thing is freaking loud.

HaHaHa! If I were in a working rock band, I would want the Rumble 500 head and a pair of 115's if SPL was the deciding factor. If space/footprint/weight were more important then 112's rule the night, and that is why I have 112's. Plus you aren't giving up much of anything to the 15's and you have a higher reach than 15's. I don't dislike 10's it's just that I like everything else better.

Same here. All I do is dust off my old gig-rig now and again to anger the neighborhood. My faithful Rumble 75 is my stalwart daily driver.
