Fender Custom Shop Rumble cabs.. another view here

I misunderstood. What are your cabs?

I don't think that he will take offense! He means that Rumbles rock and tho they may be from different eras.. there are different levels of awesome.. and in his excitement, he is claiming that the CS Rumble cabs are at the top of the heap of awesome.. A expression of glee that I truly appreciate!

Linnin, Please don't take this the wrong way, but really, the best ever? Seems like anything Rumble is the best, regardless of age, price and technology.

Yes the original Fender Rumble bass amp was a special order only Fender Custom Shop product. You had to order the entire system. 300 watt all tube head, and a matched pair of 410 cabinets. One of which was especially designed as a sub-woofer. These were very expensive in 1995 at $3,500. Since they were made to order only, not many were ordered so not many were made. I've seen rough estimates of maybe 3,000 systems total, so very rare.

It would be nice to know the real numbers on builds.. maybe when I call the serial numbers in, I will get the skivvy on that!

What you will also want is an official email or letter from FMIC stating such. And the exact day your cabinets were built. See if you can find out who designed the cabinets, and what were the stock speakers. Bruce Zinky designed and hand built all the front ends for each and every Custom Shop Rumble Head. At that time Bill Hughes (he designed the ampeg SVT) was the head engineer and designed the power section.

99z3 and linnin Fair enough. I envy that. But I have been in the market for new cabs and have been attracted to the Rumbles based on the positive comments here. But nobody has anything negative to say. Is Fender really making really high quality cabs at half the price of the competition?

Last year, when I was thinking about getting back into playing. The first amp I tried was the Rumble 500, it was used.. I was really impressed.. but at the time, I didn't have the money for both a amp and a bass.. so I had to pass it up.. it didn't stay on the used market for very long.. it sold pretty quick.. yeah, I feel that they that good.. and very underrated by many, I think because they are just throwing a jilted thought that way, but not really have ever tried them or given them a fair shot. For the money, this series is something is hard to beat.. that is my honest opinion.

Absolutely! Higher quality than most cabs costing twice as much and better sounding than some costing five times as much. You can pay more if you want to.

I get what you are saying. But Ive seen a few comments around the rest of TB in the negative, because everyone has their own tastes. But I've also seen enough comments around TB and Ozbass of the 'the rumble is better than I expected' 'the rumble is great especially for the price' 'the rumble should be considered if looking for a lighter cab' 'value for money combo - Rumble'.
Ok - they are paraphrased but I think you get the drift.

So look around, do a few searches on TB. At the end of the day you will decide what points are important to you, and make your own decision.
