Yeah, makes sense. The bass will vibrate the cooler which causes the water to vibrate which in turn causes the ice to vibrate, but because of the time delay, the ice is now 180° out of phase and cancels the vibrations of the cooler. Therefore, the vibrations never make it to the stage. Genius!

Was just given a bass that's been sitting in an attic for several years. It's in awful condition with a very bowed neck, and another eighth of a turn to the truss rod is sure to break it. Needless to say, I much prefer the bass to the guitar right now. I've been dabbling around with it at very low volumes through a little 10 watt Vox guitar amp, and I'm ready to make the move to a designated rig. I'll be picking up a bass from Rondo as I've had nothing but success with Kurt's guitars in the past, and read good things about his SX bass line as well.
For the amp, I am stuck between a 40 and 100 watt Rumble. I am not talented enough, nor do I really have the time to play with anyone else right now, but feel that I may in the future. Is there that much sound difference between the 40 and 100? I don't think that the 100 would be enough to gig with if a drummer was involved anyway, and I don't want to sink the money into a 200 watt version. At least not until I become more confident with my playing abilities. Is the 100 overkill for just playing at home alone? I figure if the 100 isn't loud enough to gig with, then 40 will be enough for the apartment.

This is easy. Go for the Rumble 40. No matter how good you get, and how many other monster amps you may acquire, you will always need and adore your humble Fender Rumble 40.

I think the 40 would be perfect. I could easily use it at rehearsal, I don't, I have an old SWR I keep at the studio but the 40 would be plenty with spare head room.

If the 100 watt is out, do I really need the 40 over even the 25? I know I get the additional push buttons for better tone shaping, but is it worth the extra $100 new?
Edit: After searching through the GC used section, I can pick up a 100 watt for $20 more. At that price, it may be worth it either way.

For me it was, I wanted the class "D" amp and the lower weight and higher power. The 100 would be fine too particularly for $20.00.
I don't know what the weight of it is the 40 is 18 lbs. I have 220 watts, 500 watts and 900 watts covered with a couple other amps and speaker options, so I have no need for a 100 watt amp.

The 100 is 22lbs, barely more than the 40 and not much larger.
I'm not sure is anyone has tried the effects loop chaining with 2 100's (to get 200w into 2 112s). I wonder how well that setup might work for normal gigging.

That's a great selling point. In my case the $100.00 upcharge was why I picked the 40. Traditionally 60 cent a watt is a good price. A very effecent amp too, but I'd have had to go for a heavier battery. I would have picked the 25 but it's not a class D amp and heavier than the 40.
