Rumble noise issue update:

As I’ve mentioned before, I was having an issue with a scratching noise coming from my Rumble 500 combo, but after a month of having the amp with a local tech, the issue was not resolved. I contacted Fender’s customer service and as of now have a brand new Rumble 500 combo that works perfectly, and the old amp has been shipped back to Fender where they are going to test it to figure out what the issue is. Huge thanks to Fender for helping me out with this, their customer service went above and beyond

I have a bit of static here and there when adjusting the master volume here lately but twisting the control back and forth clears it up right away. I think it's just the fan sucking dust into it.

I think I'll just cut a piece of air purifier filter and tape it to the in vent and see if that takes care of it.

Was yours just doing it when adjusting the volume ?

I had the 40 with me this evening, we are helping a buddy out who has partnered up with another friend in a bar here in Lake City. The town is filled with musician so we are trying to get something going on.
I brought in an extra guitar and figured what the hell, if someone wants to sit in they could do worse than play through the R-40. It'll take a while for the word to get out.

So we pack up and I show the R-40 to the guitar player, take the GB Shuttle 9.0 off line and plug into the 40. I was the one surprized, it freaking sounded great. With the volumes all at 12:00 it has plenty of volume for this venue, the dive actually has good acoustics, it's small probably under 8 or 9 hundred square feet with a peaked roof at about 16 feet. I'm going to use it next week, keep the GB and 2X10 Neo in the truck in case I need more, I don't think I will. Damn it, I may have use for a 100 after all, when does it stop "o) with my last breath I guess.

I splurged with the 100 watt afterall. Saw it used on GC yesterday, and decided to look for a 40 this time around just to see the 100 come down in price a bit more. It's getting delivered to my local GC up the road for $185 after shipping and taxes.

Now, to just figure out which bass I want.
But seriously, since you were mentioning rondo and SX, there really isn't anything else in that price range I can think of new.

What is the budget and what kind of tone are you going for?

Now that I have my new (to me) Rumble 200 combo, I'll be putting my modified V2 Rumble 75 up for local sale on Craigslist and local facebook pages.

Congrats on your acquisition of the 200. That Rumble 200 is a real kicker. I thought your 75 was as well, with your mods to it also.

Really leaning towards a SS Jag or one of these from Rondo.

Trying to stay right around $200 for it. Can't play any of them before I buy them though, so I'm going in completely blind. There is a guy selling a Bronco local to me and I can go the upgrade route with that one right away. This is getting harder than I thought.

A Squier VM or CV would be very good choices, just be sure to try them all out and check all the frets and hardware. Let your hands and ears guide you.
While there may be a lot of negative commentary about GC, the good things are that you get free shipping from store-to-store,and you get to try before you buy plus you have a 30 day return period. Never be afraid to call the stocking store and ask the manager there for a lower price by making a reasonable offer. Once it gets to your store if you find it needs a setup, get that store to throw it in for free. Good things can happen if you know how to ask politely but firmly.
