Fender Rumble Club

"The 100 is 22lbs, barely more than the 40 and not much larger"

That's a great selling point. In my case the $100.00 upcharge was why I picked the 40. Traditionally 60 cent a watt is a good price. A very effecent amp too, but I'd have had to go for a heavier battery. I would have picked the 25 but it's not a class D amp and heavier than the 40.
Both the Rumble 25 and 40 are class AB and utilize SMPS (switch mode power supply) that is more typically used with class D amplifiers. The difference in weight is that the Rumble 25's cabinet is constructed of heavier MDF while the Rumble 40's cabinet is constructed of lightweight plywood. Rumbles 100: 200; and 500 are all class D.

And there ^ you have it folks, from our local Fender guru.
I'm not being a smartarse, Linnin really knows his Fender.
Thanks @Killed_by_Death. I've been playing Fender since 1972, or 44 years. Plus I have a fair amount of knowledge acquired along the way to include a pretty good Fender library. I've also cultivated friendly relations with a few music industry insiders over the years.

This makes things more difficult for me now.
No it doesn't.
Why should I be buying the 40 over the 25 now if the amp class is the same?
The front end is the deciding factor here. The Rumble 40 and up to the 500 all have the very same pre-amp/gain; voicing palette, overdrive, four band EQ, and master. The Rumble 25 does not, and because of the far superior front end (which is a total bargain for only $100 more) you get far superior sound quality and tonal flexibility. The 10" woofer in the 40 is superior to the 8" woofer in the 25.

Also @deathoftheparty, you really have to sit down and audition the Rumble 40 and 25 side-by-side, and head-to-head with the very same bass at the very same time. Even the smallest of Authorized Fender Dealers is going to have these in stock to demo, and most likely the Rumble 100 too.

Unfortunately the bass I'm planning on picking up (Jaguar SS to complement my awful conditioned P-Bass in a standard scale length) isn't carried with any vendors in my town and will have to be an online purchase, so I was planning on making both purchases at the same time.

Yes, I can see that as advantageous. You should be able to wrangle a 10-15% discount, and multiple months to pay. Go with the Rumble 40, and you won't be disappointed.

 :roflmao: You'll keep it. It'll be far too cute to send back. :D Besides, whatever would you do on your next trip?;)
Exactly. It'll be a perfect match for my travel bass, and while the weight is a little more than I'd like due to the MDF enclosure, the form factor itself is spot on. I can see a load of other applications for it where the 40 would be too bulky. Besides, getting anything but a Rumble somehow wouldn't feel right. :D

Well, I've gone and done it yet again. Today I put in an order for the Rumble 15. I needed a really small amp for my travel rig that was actually usable, and the 15 fit the bill. In a few days, I'll be back to three Rumbles again. :)
There is no such thing as too many Rumbles, I'm sure you will enjoy it!
I've got a 40c, 200c, and a 212 cab. Now I want another 212 cab and a 500 head to join the family.... Endless possibilities
