Fender Rumble Club

Greetings my fellow Rumblers! You all are doing just fine. Keep it up. Five years ago I had a serious heart attack and have been given the gift of five more years of good life. Right now my heart is saying 'Goodbye'. Can't even get an appointment with a cardiologist at the Salem VA hospital. So no real medical update to give you all. They will probably see me a month after I'm dead as that is the way with America's only true socialist medical system. After all, I am 351 years old in rock 'n' roll time, and Kieth Richards outlives another one! Rumble On!
Well this is awful news to hear, so sorry Linnin. Here's hoping and praying that something will change and that you can get the necessary help that you need.

Wow! Bad ticker and still positive and upbeat! I wish I were that great of person. I did try; I can't be fixed :(

Our friend has a lot of Grumpy old Farts pullin' and prayin' for him. Godspeed Linnin!

I noticed a recommendation to tilt the 4x10 back so you could hear it better, but I don't like that solution. The 4x10 configuration is possibly the most directional of all arrays and tilting it back fires the sound out above the heads (and ears) of your audience. So while it would sound great to you, your audience would not be hearing the same sound. Tilting back works for rear-facing monitors but you will never see a pro rig with a tilted-back back-line.

The better solution is to raise it off the floor closer to your ear level. As little as 300 mm would help, 500-600 mm would be better. Stacking it with another cab as you have done, does exactly that.

Or if you want to just run the 4x10, a US$20 folding suitcase stand would rock your world.

I disagree with your hypothesis. Bass is the least directional of all instruments. The higher the frequency the more directional the sound. Before I bought by 2x10 to add to my 500c, I used a kickback stand. It worked quite well and the audience could hear me just fine. That is not to say that the folding suitcase stand isn't a good idea.

Ok guys, they dropped the video of one of my bands( Sugawood Music) playing LIVE in the studio that was recorded about 2 months ago. I used my 2015 Fender American Standard Jazz and Rumble 500 head and 210 v3 cab running out of the DI on the amp. I had no idea how it sounded in the booth/board and only heard a rough mix play back on the monitors in the room. The bass sounds a bit more aggressive in the mix than it does in the room through the cab. Our segment starts around 13:40. Be kind, the Rumble and bass were new to me and this was our new drummers 4th time playing with us live in front of people(camera crew in this case). No over dubs, no fixes, all the warts and mistakes.

Very good. I really like the bass sound. I have a couple of questions as I also have an AM J. What strings do you use? and, can you post your amp settings you are using to get that sound?
Thanks.

I have D'Addario rounds on there. I think .50 - .105. or .45-.100 I have both sizes in my drawer and forget which one I used. I've been experimenting with stings.

It has been a bit, but I think my settings Gain Noonish, Bass 9-10 o'clock, Low mid 1 o'clock, High Mid 11 or 12 o'clock, Treble noonish, give or take 1. Contour in, the others out. I also used my MXR M81 bass preamp, settings: output-noon, mid. freq- just shy of 800, input 1 o'clock, bass -noon, mid 11 o'clock, treble just past noon, rest of my effects were off.

To be perfectly honest, I really didn't know 100% how it sounded through the line out. I knew it sounded awesome in the room through the cab! I don't know if the engineer did any kind of tweaking on the sound of the bass. I know reverb was added to the vocals. This was all done as a favor for St.Augustine Scene podcast. They asked us to come in and be filmed and they took care of the rest. We were supposed to be interviewed too, but I ended up in the hospital for a triple bypass, so that part got canceled.

We are also working on our first album. It is close to being done recording, I have 2 or 3 more songs to record bass for and then lead guitar and vocals. It has our original drummer on it, the one my basslines were written to. So if the bassline seems a little out there, that is why, Fred plays the song a bit more relaxed than Greg did. Then we will hire someone to master it. I'll be happy to share that too, But only a few songs have the Rumble, (direct and miced) Others have my GK(direct and miced), Direct via the MXR M81, or the Zoom B3.

Praying for you @Linnin

Nice score..
I finally bought it. I got a brand new Rumble 115 v3 cabinet for $118. It was a local pickup only sale on eBay from a local music store. I will pick it up Wednesday. Pictures soon. Now my Rumble 200 will be the full 200 watts with two fifteens. I will have the coupling effect going on that @Linnin always talks about! To quote him: :)WOOT! WOOT!:)

You might have to back the bass knob a bit, my tests had the 115 cab being boomier than the 115 in the combo, so it won't quite have the effect of 2 identical cabs, though the drivers are the same, the box design and size is different. It will hit pretty hard I'm sure, big difference from combo alone. And any time you have to back the bass eq down, more headroom is gained, so the extra boominess can work to your advantage.
