Agree that Fender Rumbles sound better than ampegs. I wouldn't call the ampeg bottom round. Fat; blubbery, rubbery, lazy and muddy = YES!

Because I'm feeling rather verbose today, let's look at this another way. Let's go ahead and count 15's out as you don't care for them. If you were looking at a Rumble 210 alone vs a pair of Rumble 112's there would be no contest as the pair of 12's would handily produce more SPL and move more air and to my ear sound better doing it. It is also my well considered opinion that the pair of 112's would be better suited to genres such as: Alt. Country, Americana, Blues, and of course any blues and country based rock to include any jazz inflected mules owned by the gov't.

There are probably about 300+ Rumble Club members that own the Rumble 500 2x10 combo and that it does absolutely everything for them all by itself. It is the best selling bass amp & combo on the world market and has been for two years running. If it keeps this up (and there is no reason why it shouldn't) it will be the best selling bass amp of all time. You can't argue with success, or at least you shouldn't waste your time doing so.

The question, then, is which manufacturers advertise the most in Bass Player?
You have to take reviews in magazines devoted to a subject with a grain of salt. If you read Car and Driver, there has never been an uncool or bad car built, for example.

I think of round as a shape. I find that Fender Rumbles exhibit a taut well rounded bottom end with plenty of well defined musicality coupled with quickness of attack.

Totally agree with you GravediggerDav on your comment on taut well rounded bottoms. Glad to see you're still with us Linnin. I've said a few prayers for you. Damn VA system. I never qualified for VA care. I've been on the TriCare system since I retired from the Air Force back in 1995.

I had a heartbreaking moment with my Rumble 500 combo over the weekend and I wanted to unburden myself with it as I know you guys will sympathize.
First, I've had this amp for a year now and still leave all the tags and labels on the top to think of it as new. But, somewhere in transporting it to another guy's house, I.... I... dented it. Nasty dent about 3/4 up one side. I don't even remember how it happened. Could have been when it was in the back of his truck though.

But it gets worse... I HAVE a cover for it! I just stupidly didn't put it on. And now I will remember it every single time I look at the poor thing. It's just so light, and I was moving it myself so I knew I'd treat it gently. (Honestly I'm exaggerating a bit. It's not really even visible unless you're looking for it. But still...)

So now I get to bang my head against the wall ever time I see it (Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!!!)

So take a lesson from my sad experience, "Don't be a fool, cover your tool!" (or choose your own: Link Removed )
