Speaking of Dixie, have you read "Confederates in the Attic: Dispatches from the Unfinished Civil War"? One of my favorite books of the last 20 years. Reading this book has given me appreciation and insights to a culture that was heretofore unavailable to me.

I haven't, but I think I may have lived it. Born and raised in Virginia with several ancestors in the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia. One most importantly in 4th Virginia Infantry also known as 'The Stonewall Brigade' . I have walked the same battlefields. Sat in the same church pew as Robert E. Lee both in Richmond and in Lexington. I am a purely bona fide 'Son of the South'. I could easily be a member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans if I should so choose to be. But I don't for a vast variety of good reasons.

Nice picture, that design was ahead of it's time. I believe she got sunk by the Merrimack.Notice the similarity with CSS Virginia
I love the stealth grey verson - but if a love child between the old and new were on the cards, I could really go for the v3 cabinet, but with the black metal grille of the v2 and the flat logo of the v3.
I believe the CSS Virginia wasn't sunk, but was scuttled after its dual with the Monitor. The Merrimack was the name of the hull of a Union boat that there was left behind in Norfolk. It served as the base for the build of the Virginia.
^^^This is correct!^^^ The CSS Virginia ended up being so heavy that the Merrimack's steam engine could barely propel her at all with little maneuverability.
I also qualify for membership in the The Sons of Confederate Veterans. I had two ancestors in War of Northern Aggression.

I guess I qualify too! Though most of my ancestors were Yankees, I had a Confederate General in there somewhere. I feel awful that I can't remember his name, but he did write a book about his wartime experience.

While I am satisfied with the vintage blackface look of the Rumble v3, I could definitely see me experimenting with different grills. I would not go so far as to re-tolex the cabinets, but making some new frames and trying different cloth appeals to me. At the moment, I am severely constrained in shop space, so that project will have to wait. Plans are afoot...

I have a Fender Rumble 500 Combo and recently during a show i dented the dust cap of one of the speakers, i tried using tape and vacuum but nothing happened. im taking the amp tomorrow to a repair shop to see of they can repair the dust cap. My question is, if i have to get a new speaker, what kind/model of speaker is the 10" in the rumble 500 combo. guitar center site says its "2x10" Eminence" but i dont know what kind of model or name is the 10" speaker or anything to be more specific so i can buy the same speaker model. hope someone can help me! i love my fender rumble 500 combo! thanks!!!

Does the dent effect the sound?
And they use a proprietary speaker eminence makes for them. So you can't just buy a direct replacement. Maybe from Fender direct?
