Fender Rumble Club

St. Augustine has this to say of itself:
"Founded in September 1565 by Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles of Spain, St. Augustine is the longest continually inhabited European-founded city in the United States – more commonly called the "Nation’s Oldest City."
Yes thanks Linnin for the info- Also I've only played in one amphitheater and the sound was horrible.

Well, don't bother to play in any of America's huge basketball arenas then. They suck to high heavens. I wasted $200+ to see Paul McCartney. The sound was worse than horrible, but I got to see him live and be in the same room.
It seems that those type of venues can be label as a ''hardroom. No drapes, curtains, nothing but echo and reverberations.

After 100s of concerts at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, I've found that the sound is good almost everywhere but still gets better, the closer you get to the mixing board. Doesn't that make sense? The sound guy/girl will dial things in to suit their location. Take that into consideration whenever buying tickets to a show.

I don't work there any more but my real job is right across the street so I still go to some shows every season. Some people want the front row(s) which is great for photography. I don't go to see the band or have the band see me. Face it, most of those guys are past their prime as far as looks go anyway. It's all about listening to the music. The right amount or Rumble is the thing to pay for.

I can attest to this.
In college, the big rock shows were in the basketball arena and the concerts were ruined by the harsh, echo-y space. Forget turning it up to 11; every band sounded like every instrument and vocal was on reverb turned up to 20,000. Sometimes I couldn't even tell what song they were playing. I went to two events and figured out: no more concerts in this room. Ever.

Boats, basses and scale models???? Are we freaking twins? WWII armor?

Ha ha! While I do have some armor kits (and aircraft and ship), they are in the minority. My favorite subject is automotive, mostly race cars, mostly endurance racers (a la Le Mans.) I have a local (s. California) group that has some world class modelers and we have a lot of fun trading tips and showing our latest work. We used to be informally known as the Tamiya Model Builders group and met in Tamiya's USA headquarters but when they downsized--and we were cast out--we kept the group going as the Outcast Model Builders Group and generally have a dozen or more in our small meetings. Our group has been very good at getting each other to cross-over between subjects--ship modelers trying cars, car modelers trying armor, etc. For a good time, Google 'Dale King scale model'. Dale has made several 1:12 scale model photo sets--awesome!

I was never a good enough painter to do cars! I had to do beat up tanks and combat aircraft to hide my mistakes. lol

Getting a show-worthy car paint job is NOT cost effective; it takes hours and hours.

Any so cal'rs see the HB airshow? Breitling jet team and USAF thunderbirds this past weekend?

I did! I was too lazy to drive all 15 minutes away but I could see (and hear!) most of it from my front yard.

Indeed. I can actually paint a real boat flawlessly with Imron--but cant' paint a 1/32 scale model flawlessly. It takes impeccable skill in small scale!

That is freaking awesome!

Make sure you keep us up to speed on how it works out. Now I suddenly got cramps...or is that GAS?

My second Rumble 500 Combo finally showed up yesterday afternoon. I just got done testing the "Rumble Stack" plan and it is a roaring success. I vertically stacked 2 Rumble 500 Combos and it sounds glorious! All I had to do to link them was run the effects send of one to the effects return of the other and they work perfectly in sync from the pre amp controls of the master amp. The volume is the same and there is no buzz or ground loop noise at all. The advantages here are numerous as I see it vs a combo+extension cab setup:

1. Total Redundancy in case of amp failure at a show
2. More headroom. 700 watts into 4 10 inch drivers vs 500.
3. Lighter. The Rumble 500 combo actually weighs a few lbs less than the 2x10 extension cab.
4. Geo Diverse. Leave one at home and one at the practice space. Combine for gigs.

Obviously the downside is cost, but I got these for $417 each shipped from Sam Ash off of reverb.com so I only have about $100 more invested than I would in a combo+ 2x10 cab setup. Obligatory pic:
