Fender Rumble Club

I know right? You can go to almost any town in America and find a monster sax player or two...but not always monster bassists. Yet--bassists are more needed. I find that strange. It is really hard getting consistent work on sax if you can't travel. But, here in Savannah people are looking for bassists every freaking night!
In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, there seem to be more bassists looking for bands than bands looking for bassists. Most of the working bar bands are 3 piece. Sax players I don't see much of. I love a tenor sax in band.

We have a total lack of bassists on my side of Nashville. That's not to say that there aren't a lot of good bassists in town, but I only know of a handful of them out here.

At my local brick and mortar, there are always signs looking for bassists or drummers. Everyone seems to sing, play guitar, or keys.

A lot of the churches around here are looking for bassists too. If I was in to that sort of thing, I could work 4 gigs a week just at churches.

I hear ya. I play bass every Sunday at church. Sometimes I play a mix of sax, flute, bass and guitar. depends on what is needed for that service.

I would, but I'm afraid I would spontaneously combust the second I walked through the doors at a church these days...

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha.... I know what you mean. Fortunately I found a place where I am really comfortable and I really look forward to Sunday mornings now. I really get more out of it than what I give it. Hope you get to experience such a place someday!

I dislike organized religion, but Sunday morning hypocrites don't bother me as much as they used to. Especially if they're paying me to listen to me play bass. Jesus Loves Me! Plus $800 a month would just about double my income

No church gets it all right for sure. Apparently--many get it all wrong. That is very sad. But, don't let idiots that ruin churches stop you from having a relationship with Jesus. Not saying anyone isn't.....

Just had to post here, esp. on Fender Friday. Last night I played with my Rumble 500c for the first time with my 'real' band. (Amp had been down in FLA for months doing nothing but soaking up the sun). To make this quick, it was devastatingly good. Compliments all around on the new punchy sound and power. Hell, I might be contributing to volume wars now but it sounded awesome. Played my 5string Squier through the whole practice too and didn't screw it up too badly. Biggest problem was answering the question "What note is that?!" To which I finally learned to stop and really look as they don't automatically come to you when a B string gets involved. And that B string sounded glorious on the Fender too. No problem at all handling it.

Some good points have been made regarding playing in church here and I have no problem with them; however, the mods may not be so understanding. I think we would all be very disappointed if this fine thread got shut down. So, I suggest we not continue this line of discussion or move it to the lobby.
Thanks

Ok. Hey--will the mods throw some shade if I talk about boats?

I agree. I didn't mean for a thoughtfree comment to turn the convo that way. It was, at the very least, a respectful conversation.

If anyone wants to continue it, we can move it to the lobby or inboxes.

On an aside, I can't wait to get home and plug in tonight. My only plans are bass and Overwatch. No laundry, work, or anything else I've got to do tonight.

On a lighter note, I'm doing the post-shipping inspection on one of my Christmas presents. (I LOVE my wife!!)

Some of you will remember my distinction in the Rumble Club of using my 500 combo to drive a Bassman 115, because I got the 115 first on the way to a Bassman 500, but got pleasantly delayed by the Rumble. :roflmao:

Well, now it's caught up and here's my 700-watt rig! I want the Bassman to be master for it's bells & whistles. But I don't like that the enslaved Rumble bypasses it's master volume. But, if I'm reading the Bassman schematic correctly, it does the same thing. Oh, well . . .

Merry Christmas to all!
