Fender Rumble Club

Hi Shawn! Yes, I am actually in better shape than at first thought. Sailed right through the angieogram. No blockages and therefore no stents needed. Chest X-rays came back clean. Pretty remarkable for a chap that smoked & drank heavily for 43 years. It's a good thing that God loves me and Kieth Richards equally well. ;) I have an appointment for cardioversion on Jan 3rd to shock my heart back into its natural rhythm. It doesn't always work, but I am counting on it as I have a slot open in a blues ensemble if I can get my timing back. I used to have impeccable timing and my meter was perfect. :bassist::bassist:
Glad to hear it. Keep on rumblin'!

A bit OT.
I've recently read a little on the Fender TV10/12/15 reissues. They look and sound great (from Internet viewing). The amp section is evidently tube pre plus class D output. Which makes it sound similar to a Bassman 500 (lower powered tho) in a combo body; or a Rumble 200 (as eg) with a tube pre, no line out and higher weight.

Have I confused myself???
(They do look cool though!)

Ok, so I used my 500 combo with the 210 extension can at its first gig. I have to say I am pretty happy with the results. Granted at all the venues we play we have PA support, so I was curious as to see if dumping my 810 Ampeg was a good idea. I have to say that I'm pretty thrilled with it. Not too mention the set up was far less painless. I still had the volume quite low and could hear it thumping away clearly behind me.

I could hear myself very well (we play some large venues, big loud heavy metal band) and my tone was excellent. I couldn't of asked for more for its initial voyage.

The opening band set up a large Ampeg rig like my old one in front of my Rumbles, pretty much towering over it. I was getting a little worried about my choice until I could see him mumbling under his breath as he lifted the head to the top of the cabs. I just pointed to my little Rumble set up and told him this is the way to go. After the show i think he agrees.

Simplicity is key and that's what I now have in this new rig. Next month we hit the House of Blues and we will see how it goes there.

The modern world is a great thing. I can't see myself committing to the big rigs anymore. Too much gets to be too much. I was a bit nervous to see how the rumbles were going to perform...if anyone had any doubts, they don't anymore.

I've seen some doubters, but I am here to tell you that the combo and the extension cabs can carry their weight pretty much anywhere.

House of blues usually supplies a full svt back line, so you might not even get to use your cabs, depending on the show of course.

I did a little experiment today: I plugged my Aguilar Tone Hammer Pre/DI into the "effects return" on my Rumble 500 head, than connected my bass directly into the pedal. With this setup, I believe the TH Pre is feeding right into poweramp on the Rumble. It sounds real good and noticeably different than the Rumble by itself, the tone pretty much sounds like a TH head plugged into a Rumble 210 cab:) Its great to have this flexability, maybe ill get the Ampeg and/or Mesa Pre-amp boxes now and have a small collection of amp "flavors";)
....Interestingly, when connected into the return I thought that at least the "Master" would still work, only the Gain/Master on the TH

Ive had the TH pedal for a while, my GK does not have an effects loop so i've always ran it inline. I don't think you get the true sound of the pre-amp that way, the TH and GK preamps conflict somewhat. This is the first time i've ran it via an effects loop so I get to hear the true tone. The Rumble certainly is turning out to be very flexible...

I ABYed a TH and VT bass for that matter) through the effects loop for a while. I'd run through the Rumble for clean and the TH pedal for a little dirt. It was just more hassle to me than it was worth with the extra power adapter and having to run two different lines to the amp. Everything goes in the front for me now.

Delayed after a shipping mistake, but I finally got to run my Bassman 500 head
with my 410 Rumble cabinet.

I'm looking for something with more output & bigger speaker than my Traynor TBM10--I think a Rumble fits the bill.
I have a chance to get one (or to get a less expensive tablet or laptop among other options) as a reward you could say.
I'm leaning toward the Rumble 40.

Thanks for your post. I have a question. What do you think you are losing in sound by having the same power ie 500 watts but 2x 210 as opposed to 2x410/810

Not so much that I thought I was losing anything. I'm excited about the Rumble set up and I needed to get that first gig out of the way to know exactly where I was going. I've been on the Ampeg for years, so I knew exactly what I had and I never even thought about it...plug and play.

The Rumbles Have been far exceeding my expectations with every step I take with them. I really can't find anything to complain about. I couldn't be happier with the set up.
