Fender Rumble Club

Looks as good as it sounds! :woot:

Yikes! :rollno: I have an old tape. At the end of the take you can hear me yell "Shoot The Drummer!" I feel your pain. :dead:
I do a lot of the singing as well....many of the tempos were so fast I was having a hard time getting all the lyrics out, during the set I actually had to give some hand signals and ask that he slow down a bit.....which of course upset his ego, he got angry and threatened to pack up and go on the spot. I normally would leave this kind of feedback for in between sets, but the tempos were sooo fast we were losing dancers and it sounded embarrassing. Not sure he will return to the band or not but I certainly can't play with a drummer who apparently has fundamental issues with tempo. It's like a guitar player who plays the whole song in the wrong key...but does not recognize he is in the wrong key. To top it off, this was a fairly good paying gig at a club that books A-list bands...

...But yes the rig sounded great...spanky would be an appropriate term. That's my 96 EBMM 4-band Stingray with Basslines pickup/preamp which I installed years ago to cure the lost G string issue. I bought it new 20 years ago and have played too many gigs with it to count, i know every nic and ding. Its a fairly aggressive sounding bass and can be a bit much with my GK, but the Rumble tames a lot of the annoying sizzle and brings out the thicker low-mids.

I have found that the sign of a good bass amplifier system is when any and all bass guitars sound great through it. I find this to be the case with my brand new Fender Rumble combo/cabinet bass system. Prior to getting it, I had the new Hartke KB15 Kickback (500 watts peak/250 watts RMS/15" speaker). Although a good unit, I found that one of my basses (my Yamaha TRBX305) sounded better through the Rumble system than through the Hartke system.
+1....I also have a GK MB212-ii combo, 3 classic passive Fenders and an EBMM SR-4. The GK is a good amp for sure, but it does not work on every bass or style. I find that the Rumble sounds great with every bass i own and is tonally more flexible, i tend to leave the GK at home most of the time and gig with the Rumble.

@Linnin , it's Angeline Saris's birthday!
Hope you sent her a card!

Make sure he doesn't return. Call him up and fire him. :rage:

Ughhh...I have been having an issue with a piano player at church and finally told the worship leader not to book me on bass or sax when he is booked. Complete idiot that thinks his job is to play bass.

During rehearsal Sunday morning I knew what was going to happen---he was slamming the sub bass crap and the worship leader turned to me and said "turn down." I laughed and was holding the unplugged power cord to my amp in my hand and pointed at the piano turd. I told her to straighten it out or I am out. I am out.

Later that evening I had the pleasure to play with real pro's....this cat on drums owns the restaurant across the river from my house....dude groove's like a badass on this tiny cocktail set and the bassist is the best in Savannah. Great pianist too:

I understand. I've sure had my ordeals with boomy keyboardists. Enough that I dread playing with a keyboardist at all anymore. Once, I was accused of missing a lot of notes, when it turns out it was the keyboardist.

If it ain't keyboardists it's boomy bass drums getting in the way. Can't win.

I go to the keyboard player if it's one that I haven't played with before and tell him don't play notes below G3! Yes you will get looks but it's better than them trying to comp your part and hit a wrong note and get stares!

I know right? Now--the keyboardist I played with in the evening is superb...to be fair. At church you often find yourself with inexperienced musicians...that is part of it. I have tried to solve the problem in a diplomatic manor...I am literally the only really experienced musician at this church and yet they were treating me like I didn't know what I was talking about. So--I tricked them just to show them where the problem is...it didn't matter to them. Ughhhhhhh

During the rehearsal the pianist literally asked "how do you play an f# minor?." In a private conversation the worship leader said "he is a really good pianist." I said he is terrible actually. He can't form basic chords. He seems only to be able to play with his left hand because he picks his nose with his right hand and refuses to listen to the music prior to rehearsal. It is pathetic. There are two other very good pianists in the church...call me when they play. This cat can't play 4 measures correctly---EVER!!!!!!

I feel like he is Beelzebub sent to torment me. I wanted to rip my head of, crap in my skull and punt it into the congregation with feces flinging out on everyone.

Ohhh I did that. He looked at the worship leader and said "then why do I have 88 keys?...the piano is supposed to play down there..."

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...and the fooker plays with this cheesy electric stereo modulation sound. Burn HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw--this isn't a kid--this a 48 year old man.

I sometimes play with a guy who has the full blown old school Hammond B3 and Leslie rig...talk about huge low end. When he plays bass notes, i completely drop from the mix.....I try to bring a sizzly Stingray or a P-Bass with Rounds for just such an occasion:)

I hear you---but he is probably actually playing music and not random notes from hell. I play a Bongo with rounds. I could out boom him but it is just noise. I can't stand sorry musicianship.

... or a Marshall 412 with the "resonance" knob cranked.
