Wow! The tuners are a drop in replacement UNLESS the bushings are the issue. The bushings Hipshot sends are too small with the outer diameter. One call to them, and they should have bushings that will fit.
Also, how did that luthier go about getting that nut out? Looks like he used a hammer!
One small tap from the side is what gets those out. Scoring the finish along the back and sides is a good idea, too. I've never had the wood break like that.
He said they were too small, he made spacers to fit ( sorry translating from french)

I trust this luthier, I don't think he'd use a hammer ( I hope)
He said it basically just fell apart when he popped it out
I do know that last time I brought it in he said the fretboard was very very dry..maybe that's what's up..
I've had issues with this one..the stock bridge also had issues...
