Fender Sting sig

I'm not aware that the Sting Precision "continues to go up in price." As far as I can tell, that model is still being produced by Fender. Also, the price is not all that great. Why the link?
Ok, but if we all posted craigslist links for every bass people here are looking for, this forum would be nothing but craigslist ads.
I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just saying... Anyway, peace and take care.
$525 USD is a fair price for that bass. They sell for $750 new. The price did go up a little, about $50 in the past year.

Price doesn't matter when the bass sucks. And that bass sucks ass. Really, I've played it, the sound is very thin. Its one of the worst selling sigs that Fender does.
Just one man's opinion, but I don't agree on the tone.
But the price of this particular bass is nothing incredible. As I wrote in another thread recently, I went into a dealer on the West Coast who had two of them on display at $499 each. They were marked "used" but I'd swear they were just moving new overstock, not a scratch on 'em.

Have you actually played one in a band setting? Tons of grunt & just sits amazingly well in the mix.
Maybe your comment has more to do with the EQ setting you may have tried it with? As with most instruments, differing configurations of pickup styles necessitate a "tweaking" of the EQ to get the best out of the bass.
There again - maybe it's the styling you don't get along with as well? I suppose that is what makes music so interesting - everyone has a different perspective on what excites them, huh?

the sting bass i played was not defined enough. sounded like mud... the opposite of thin(but not focused either) so it was a no-go for me
I currently own a couple of nice playing early Japanese Squires and a G&L L1000. I recently picked up a Sting Sig on ebay for a very good price with a Fender hard case. The person I got it from did a decent job of packaging and it traveled across country and arrived unscathed. Right out of the case it was nearly in tune. I was blown away by the sound and feel of the Sting. Of course I play mostly Blues and this puppy is everything I always wanted in a P bass. I just fell in love with the great neck (I'll overlook the stinglay for now) rich lows and sparkling highs. Maybe I got a good one. To me it feels way better than the 51 ri P. Just my humble opinion, YMMV.
